Pink Me

Drinking from the poison stream

I was listening to Running To Stand Still the other night, and just sort of closing my eyes and visualizing it, it really is a fairly visual song.
When it got to the part with the poison stream, I pictured a stream flowing through a field. All of the vegitation was dull and dry and half-dead. Sort of desolate.
The stream was sort of rainbowy coloured. It looked like the only thing alive in the whole image. But looks can be decieving. The water is poison.
Now, the more I thought of this, I started thinking I wanted to find a photo of a stream and manipulate it to look as I pictured it in my head.
So I went over to Getty Images to look for the perfect photo. And I found something even better. A photo of a woman lying unconscious on a rock, jutting out into a stream, with her left arm extended.

I immediately saw the possibilities, and began working on the photo. Everything fell together, and this is what I ended up with:

I'm not really happy with the way the water turned out, but I really got sick of messing with it. I think I did good putting the bruise on her arm though.

Running To Stand Still ~ U2
Bellhouse Provincial Park

(no subject)

I don't know if this is appropriate for the U2 forum, but I know that U2 fans are often Daniel Lanois fans as well. I was just going to pass on the message that Daniel Lanois is touring right now. I managed to score front row seats at the show in Vancouver, so, chances are, if you are interested in checking out his show, the likelyhood of getting great seats is definitely good!

And for those new to U2... Daniel Lanois = long time U2 producer (ie: the Joshua Tree, Unforgettable Fire, Achtung Baby, etc).
it's a blue sky...

Song Of The Day

Today's Selection is...

“The Fly” from Achtung Baby.

I don’t feel like I can even fully express how wonderful I think this song is.

From Edge’s guitar, which basically steals the whole song, to Bono’s fabulous falsetto on “Love,/ We shine like a burning star/ Falling from the sky,/ tonight!” everything in this song is amazing. As much as this song showcases Bono and Edge as the melody of the band, the song is also made great by another terrific performance by Adam and Larry.

The lyrics are amazing; very poetic. My favorite verse is "It's no secret that a conscience can sometimes be a pest,/ It's no secret ambition bites the nails of success,/ Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief,/ All kill their inspiration and sing about their grief."

My favorite thing about this song is how, during the final chorus, the guitar solo is still going on beneath Bono’s falsetto wailing.
