SooHyun [UKISS]

European tour

Anyone here going any of the shows left on the second leg of the tour?

If so could you do me one huge favour?! I'd love you forever.

Anyway my favour is, could you get me a shirt? I can send money on Friday (next week, the 1st) via PayPal to make sure it gets to you. Or I could send it after you get the shirt so that way you get the full amount due to the currency change. Or I can get you something from the Portland show.

This would mean a lot. Any shirt would do (except the grey one with black shadow U2) I'd like the black one with either the big V behind the band or the one with the square picture. Please let me know, this would mean so much.

Also, I read somewhere but can't remember where or what the answer to the question was, but does anyone know why Bono wears sunglasses all the time? I know it has something to do with his eyes, but I can't remember anything else.

Also! Thanks to everyone who helped me with information on Norman, I just got the Bono in conversation book and he says the Norman is 7 years is elder. So I just thought I'd clear up the age thing.

Song of the Day

Today's Selection is...

So Cruel from "Achtung Baby"

I've liked this song ever since I first heard it a few months ago. Something about the repetitive piano notes in the background and the great drum track by Larry.
Bono's voice in the chorus isn't singing but howling. It's the most appropriate thing for this song.
The chorus is short as well, but it works.
Edge for the most part hangs low in the background until 3:23 when short riffs become apparent. Adam's bass is present in the song, but isn't really highlighted until Edge joins in. That's when the song begins to pick up. Bono's notes become shorter, almost more desperate until all the music gives at the very end. Ties in perfectly with the lyrics.
Yeah, I'd say it's an excellent song.

Favorite Lines:
You put your lips to her lips
To stop the lie.

Her skin is pale like God's only dove
Screams like an angel for your love
Then she makes you watch her from above
And you need her like a drug.

That first part in particular is great. It's always provided such great imagery for me. It's incredible.

Oh you love that drum beat too, admit it.

all the bar crew at twickenham seem to be selling their 'u2 bar crew' t-shirts on ebay

i'm looking for normal tour t-shirts as when i was there i didn't have enough money left! (after paying £25 parking!!, £2-£4 a drink, and there being no working cash machines)

anyone know if there's anywhere online? I must let everyone who sees me know which bands i like and which tours i went on! :)

maybe they'll start appearing on ebay later... maybe even with complimentary sweat and beer stains!

Rolling Stone once again has a story on forged U2 tickets. For the first time, though, I heard it was mostly TicketFast forgery. I'm getting kinda worried, still have almost 5 months until my concert. :-\ Never been to a concert of this scale, and I found TicketFast really dubious to begin with. I searched my butt off for some "hard tickets." Anyone know of any stories (for this tour) about forged hard tickets? I'm just wondering how worried I SHOULD be...

Best Vocal Performance (Thrid in a series)

Continuing with my series asking for best performances by each band member, we're going to tackle our favorite lead singer's vocal skills...

Which U2 song is Bono's best vocal performance?

**Note**This discussion focuses purely on Bono's skills as a singer, not the quality of his lyrics. There will be another question respecting Bono's skill as a lyricist later.

The interesting think about Mr. Bono Vox (latin for "Great Voice" of course) is that while he can't hold notes like he used to, he has become a much more skilled vocalist. He developed a falsetto in the 90's to offset the fact that he wouldn't be able to belt out high notes like he did on Unforgettable Fire and War forever. While he has become a better singer over the years, the energy of Bono's voice in the early-mid 80's is part of what propelled U2 to stardom. I remember seeing a behind-the-scens clip on the recording of Pride, and Bono is just totally screaming at the top of his lungs, "In the naaaaaaaaaame of Love", and after that track is done, there's Brian Eno behind the glass sarcastically saying, "Ummm, I think we need a bit more energy from you Bono."

With all that said, my choice for Best Vocal Performance:

Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own

This is not a surprise, since the song is meant to be a tribute to his father and his capabilities as an opera singer. But I think it's the height of Bono's career as a singer. Just his voice alone sends shivers up your spine.

Honorable Mentions:

Stay (Faraway, So Close) (my personal fav)
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
All I Want is You

Glasgow last night

x-posted to u2uk

Fantastic show last night once again. But I'm not surprised to read some bad reviews over at u2tours. I was down at the front and found a nice spot for the sound.

However, I started to make my way out as the band were playing Vertigo again, so I could catch my train home. The sound & views from those seats at the side (I cant imagine how bad if you were stuck behind the stage like some were!!) were quite awful. Lets hope they play somewhere abit better in Glasgow next time.

My pics can be viewd here.

Here's some audio if you attended the show.

Full video of both tracks to come soon. What's better, yousendit or megaupload?

Desperately seeking icon maker (Crossposted):

I found this icon in the user pictures of an LJ friend, but she has forgotten who made it and I'd rather know before using it (since I'm picky about giving credit to the person that deserves it for their great work), so if any one has seen this and knows who made it I'd appreciate it very much if you could comment and tell me!
