[conan] - HP

Song of the Day

Today's Selection is...

"The First Time" from Zooropa

Admittedly, I don't own Zooropa but I've heard it from The Best of 1990-2000. Also admittedly, I didn't care much for this song. TBO1990-2000 ended for me at "Numb". Digging through the "dump bin" (their words, not mine) at Wal-Mart, I found a copy of Million Dollar Hotel. It wasn't until I heard this song in it's sad opening that I really started to listen to it and enjoy it.
It's another slow, barely built up song, just like "One Step Closer". I guess dysprosium wins a cookie for guessing the song I had scheduled for today. :)
Bono takes the lead role in the song, letting his voice do the talking (Falsetto!Bono) and his lyrics do the explaining.
He gets me to sing about The Holy Ghost, Jesus and God without even realizing it. I suppose it's supposed to mean not giving in to anything, not even God if you finally feel love. Or it could be a song about refusing death. Either way, it's a cleverly disguised ode to love. Just like the movie. Awww.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com I can't help but love the structure the guitar gives the entire song. Especially since the drums are in silent mode in this song and the bass is barely present.

This is an odd question, but someone asked me this earlier and I couldn't think of an answer for the life of me, anyway, here's the question.

If you were to compare Bono to a female singer, living or dead (RIP) who would it be and why?

Now if someone can come up with an answer, amazing. Because I'm racking my brain trying to find one and I just can't.

Also, does anyone know how old Edge's brother is??

(x-posted bonofans)

we must all start somewhere....

I apologize ahead of myself as this is a rather newbish question to ask, however, I have been feeling as if I were in a black hole. You see, I am the only person amongst my peers that is an avid fan of U2. Most of the people I ask my age know who the band is, and maybe can name a song or two, but none are actually fans. I'm 17 and have been listening to the band for almost five years now. I'm rather curious on the ages of other fans, and whether anyone lives in the Cincinnati, Oh, Cookeville, Tn, or Poplar Bluff, Mo area. It becomes rather tiresome when there is no one to discuss U2 with face to face. Online congregations such as this lj are okay, but I'm kinda new at them and much rather prefer live conversations. Anyway...

Update from RTE

Verdict next Tuesday in U2 case

29 June 2005 19:50
The proceedings between U2 and their former stylist Lola Cashman concluded at the Dublin Circuit Court today.

Judge Matt Deery said he would give his judgement next Tuesday.

This morning the former U2 stylist told the court that the band only proceeded with legal action for the return of items of memorabilia after she had threatened to sue them for defamation.

Ms Cashman has denied stealing the items from the band while she was a stylist for them during the Joshua Tree tour in the late 1980s.
