shake it salome

A local radio station around here is giving away tickets to one of the Detroit shows coming up. They haven't said when they're giving them away or anything like that. Needless to say, I will be glued to the radio when they do. Does anyone know the dates for Detroit? Better yet, anyone know the opening act for those dates?

Thanks so much!

I almost forgot about today's Song of the Day
so I pick...

Twilight

This song really caught my attention (i.e. I fell in love with it) on The Sweetest Thing single.  I find it very sweet, and lovey.  The guitar part is amazing, if you ask me. There's not much to say about this song, I find it pretty simple, but the simplicity is what makes me love it so, I guess.  I didn't really care for this song for a long time, but eventually it came around and basically I started playing it constantly for about a 6 month span a couple years back.  I listened to it today for the first time in a loooong while.  My favorite line is "forever and a day has just begun today".

What do you think?

Moving right along...

I've got a series of questions for the community to answer. Not polls, like canadanne did because quite honestly, I'm not that crafty.
List five songs you wish/pray/hope U2 will cover and why.

The why can just be, "Well it's my favourite song and I'd die all over if Bono sang it." But more precise explanations are better. :)

A comprehensive list of songs U2 has already covered can be found here.

Get as weird as you like.
ETA: By covers I mean like, U2 is playing a song written and performed famously (or not so) by another band or artist.
Like...
U2 deciding to play "Fix You" by Coldplay at one of their venues. That would be a cover.

1 ticket for sale - Detroit 10/25 (next Tuesday)

My friend can't come to Michigan to go to the concert, and none of my friends in the area can get off work (or don't have enough cash right now to make it) , so I have one ticket for sale for the Detroit show next Tuesday, October 25th. It's Section 107 Row E Seat 13. Here's the seating chart at the Ticketmaster site - the ticket is directly behind the stage, fifth row. Collapse )

ok. iv regained my composure and i can say that my friend who is at the U2 concert in Philly tonight just called me and i heard bits of bono's pre-One "21st century" speech and the part of One: You say, looooove is a temple, love a higher law..etc" and i heard Edges solo! words cant explain the love i have for this band. i see them a month from tomorrow in atlanta. where i also have at least one GA ticket given to me by my friend Cathy. My dad and i bought two tickets that are upper level caticornered behind the stage. Maybe we'll be able to get her husbands ticket too and sell the balcony seats. man oh man.

just got back from the Philly show.

just when i thought it couldn't get any more amazing, fucking Bruce Springsteen made an appearance!!

i think i did permanent damage to my throat from screaming. the crowd went insane.

Bruce (and eventually his wife as well) did "People Get Ready" by the Impressions with U2. it was fantastic.

ohh, i love Philadelphia. and i love that Bruce loves Philadelphia!
