Melbourne News Headline: Achtung, baby! U2 aiming to crash Games finale

The kings of motor sport are idling, laughter is taking a holiday and there will be no new movies. But Irish rock singer Bono is planning to crash Melbourne's Commonwealth Games Party.

One of the worlds biggest music acts, Bono' U2 [Bono's U2? WTF, Mate?] is expected to play two shows at Telstra Dome in March in front of up to 80,000 fans on the same weekend as the Commonwealth Games closing Ceremony.

After 18 months of negotiations, promoter Michael Coppel Presents is expected to announce the two shows for Telstra Dome on March 24 and 25.

If the dates are comfirmed, several hundred can be expected in the city centre for the shows and sold out games events at the MCG and Vodaphone Arena.

Rumours of the U2 tour increased after Bono phoned horse trainer Lee Freedman to congratulate him on Makybe Diva's Melbourne Cup win, saying he hoped to meet the mare when he was next in Australia.

A big thanks to that horse for bringing the boys to town!

Wild Horses in Vegas

If I had known the crappy .avi video files on my camera were going to turn out this well, I'd have damned the photos and taken video bits all night. However, I thought it'd be crap, so I took mostly photos.

All I can offer is a snippet of Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, Las Vegas Friday, Nov 04 2005. Edge broke a string on his acoustic, and the replacement acoustic wasn't mic'd correctly, so he finished out electric. This is the very end.

I am on an extremely slow dialup connection, so this is the only time I can upload this to You Send It. If any of you want to re-upload it and drop the link in the comments, that'd be greatly appreciated.

ETA: If you're using a program that doesn't recognize .avi files, you can always open up Windows Media Player.

Available Ticket

I have an extra ticket for next week's concert in Tampa, Wednesday 11/16/05. It's a GA ticket. I paid more than face value for it, but I'm not going to ask for anything. Face value ($50) would be rather nice though. I'm not going to offer it off to the highest bidder or anything... first come first serve. First person I can finalize a plan with gets it.
