Looking over the pics I took of the 2 shows in Atlanta.....I took 323 of them. Three hundred and twenty-three pictures. On a 7 megapixel camera. So yeah, they all need to be re-sized a bit and played around with. In that regard, I've only gone through maybe 90 of them.

I haven't even made it into the second show yet. Ugh. Oh well, here's a preview.

Boo.

I just wanted to say Hello.

I am the former "U2wildhoney" (mod, co-owner, yadda yadda yadda)

I just wanted to change my name because I had that ol' screen name since 2001 and I think I've worn it out!

Didn't want anyone to think I left.

Cheers

Sydney at last!

Soooo... Australian fans :D

Is it worth joining the fan club? Do you think there will be a great advantage in doing so?

I'm near Sydney, so (hopefully) I'll be going to both Sydney shows (despite the fact that they've only officially announced ONE show, pfft we all know what's going on there).

If I know Ticketek/touring companies at all, they'll release tix for the 1st concert, which will sell out in 0.003seconds. So I'll end up buying SHITTY SHITTY tickets to the first concert, only for the person 2 calls after me to grab GA right-up-the-front tickets. Grar.

I've not bought concert tickets over the internet before, is it better or worse than by phone?

Every time I think about not getting tickets I feel nauseous o.O

So, I've now gone through 211 out of the 323 pictures that were taken. And I've gotten lots of great comments about the ones posted so far.

I've also gotten a few comments on my seats.

I'm a big fan of this band. I'm not a "travel around the country" type of fan, but I'm willing to do what it takes whenever they come to a town close by to get as close as I can. I got in Atlanta on Friday and got down the the arena at about 3pm that afternoon. I was number 356 in the line waiting to get in.

On Friday night, my ticket did not get picked by the lottery. So, it was just by pure luck to get as close as I could on the outside of the ellipse.

Not too bad, I guess...could be a bit better, but I wasn't complaining. I was, however, preparing for Saturday's show. Saturday, I got up at 5am, showered and whatever, and then made my way to the arena by 6am. When I arrived, I was 60th in line. I then waited for the rest of the day, outside in the cold to get in. Not bad by other's standards - people who'd left the show last night and got right in line with their tents and sleeping bags for the next night's performance. Anyhow, I made a deal with a girl who was 13th or so in line and we agreed to take the other should we make it inside the ellipse. In fact, it turned out to be the girl who made that Mofo/Tomorrow mash up that was posted here. Well, she made it in and I did too.

I found a picture that skylark74 had posted.

So yeah, more pics to come soon.

From the userinfo (again)

From the userinfo for u2:

4. Not everyone is interested in online quiz results, so if you want to post them here, place them behind a meaningful cut tag and keep them within a single comment thread. Nobody wants to see dozens of separate posts announcing everyone's results to the same quiz!

A Sincere Apology

I am truly sorry for all those who were offended and mad at me for posting the meme about which U2 band member you are most like... I forgot the rules in here. I do not plan to do it again! Will you please forgive me?

You call that essential?

I bought this great little book at Chapters yesterday called The Pocket DJ by former Spin editor and writer Sarah Lewitinn. It gives at least a hundred different kind of playlists for every genre and mood imaginable. It also lists playlists for 'essential' artists. For the most part I agree with the songs chosen for the artists. However, I do differ with the U2 one.

That is not essential; that is playing it safe. With the exception of three songs, all were singles/hits. U2 is one of those bands where in many cases, the album tracks not selected as singles are better than those released ("One Tree Hill" from The Joshua Tree comes to mind). Furthermore, they ignore a large part of their discography. Not a single song represents the albums October, Rattle & Hum, Zooropa or even Pop (Pop I feel is one of their best albums). There was too much emphasis on The Joshua Tree (4 songs), Achtung Baby (3 songs) and All That You Can't Leave Behind (3 songs), when the band has such a large and wide-ranging discography. Lewitinn does get points for putting a few of the lesser known tracks ("Another Time, Another Place", "The Three Sunrises" and "Love Comes Tumbling") and even a 'hit' that likely only but the hardcore fans will remember ("Two Hearts Beat as One"). Aside from that, the list is pretty predictable, and makes me appreciate the essentials collection I created all that much more.

Conspiracy Theory! OMG!

Okay, I'm crazy, right? Quite crazy, in fact.

Somehow, in my head, I decided that Pop and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb are the same album. So I started coming up with this conspiracy theory.

It's really messed up. Please don't take the majority of this too seriously ;P

Am I totally mad? Yes, I think so =D
