I couldn't choose today's Song of the Day. My head is kinda spacey, I'm studying for finals and preparing to go home for a month. So, naturally, in a fit of procrastination, I decided that now, rather than later, would be the perfect time to listen to the next issue of the Rolling Stone Interview podcast, portion 5. It's about 27 minutes long, and it has Bono talking about some of the albums, up until Rattle and Hum.
I found his discussion of song writing fascinating. I can write papers etc, but poetry and lyrical writings escape me. Apparently Bono just hears things in his head, writes them down, and they're perfect (to me anyway). The song he was talking about, Tomorrow, off of October, was one of particular interest. He said he wrote the song first, and then later discovered what it was about. Apparently it's about going to his mother's funeral, which makes sense. It's a beautiful song, one that I've gotten back into lately, and he didn't even know what it was about initially? Amazing..
So listen, discover, or re-discover Tomorrow and October in general. I have been lately. :)
Have a good day. ( Collapse )
