I really like ATYCLB. The airplane theme they had on the cover, as well as through the videos for those singles in my opinion did a great job reflecting the tone of that album. And also, my life at that point in time.

POP. Clearly, Pop.

Seriously, Pop.

Pop Art rocks my face, and so does Pop. It fits in so well with the discombobulated feel of Pop.

I completely agree with you on all points.

I had to go with Rattle & Hum, after much thought. It's a beautiful photo, and I think it goes very well with the theme of the film and music.

I had to go with War. I love Peter Rowan facial expression. I love all the pictures with Peter Rowan. I would explain it more, but I have to run.

Zooropa is easily my favourite, I'm surprised it isn't miles ahead in this vote!  I just think it's gorgeous, with the purpleness (my favourite colour) and the mock EU logo, and of course the trademark space baby. AND there are unused song titles hidden in the background. What's not to love!

Achtung Baby is a worthy runner-up though, I do like the patchwork design with all the random (and very cool) images. Those two are pretty much the only U2 album covers that I'm really impressed by.

Hee! Mine too. I jsut adore the whole aesthetic feel of it. And the artwork in the insert is just beautiful.

I have to admit though (and maybe this is just my short-sightedness) that I didn't know about the unused song titles in the background and still I can't see them. Do you have any info about that?

Aesthetically, I think WAR has the most gripping cover at first glance. Peter's eyes are just so electric and full of emotion.

Now if we're talking back covers... I'd have to go with Achtung... and yes, I'm talking about the LP...

This being a very tough decision, I ultimately voted for How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. I went back and examined all of the covers and tried to base my decision solely off the cover art and not my preference towards a particular album--which is very hard, I might add! I could've gone w/ either War or Rattle & Hum, but decided on HTDAAB because of it's simplicity and the fact that you can see all their faces. The black and white photograph is punched up really nice with that hint of red (although, now that I think about it, the other 2 choices are very similar in that same capacity).

I dunno, I just like that it's four dudes just sittin' around who don't even have to try and look cool--they just do.

Maybe I'm just anal this way, but the fact that they're sitting tallest to shortest REALLY bothers me.

Zooropa = purple space crack, and the album art reflects that. It's just so pretty and shiny and spacy, and I looove that spacebaby.

War is a close second though. Whenever I leave that CD sitting on top of my stereo, I feel like Peter Rowan is haunting me.

Freak! I was just thinking about this the other day.

I have to go with War. It's such a beautiful photograph and I always prefer it when the band isn't on the cover of their CDs.

definitely zooropa!! aside from my personal bias on this album, i have to say, it is the cd cover that illicits the most "wtf" responses from my non-u2-fanatic friends.

Achtung Baby for me. As far as I'm concerned, that entire booklet is ART!

I do adore all their album covers, but especially those between '87 and '97 -- definitely including Passengers, which is currently at zero.

I was surprised at the lack of support for Passengers too, actually. Whatever people might think of the music, the artwork's pretty cool.

I voted for Zooropa, but now I wish I'd picked ATYCLB.
