needleandspoon:
I'm looking for some songs to fill the gaps in my collection and I'm hoping some of you lovely folks can help me out. The songs are:

Be There
Corpse

Cry
Hallelujah
Street Mission
The Fool
Touch

I'd really appreciate any or all of these, and I'm always happy to reciprocate with whatever I've got. Thanks!

If you ever read my Wayback posts, you'd have heard it...

Yeah, me too. I was hoping someone had ripped an audio file from that at least. My ripping skills are full of failure.

As far as The Cry goes, you're not about to get a studio copy of that for the simple reason that Is That All? is the closest thing in existence. The live version of The Electric Co. opened by The Cry on UABRS is really the closest you'll get (considering the mastering and editing that goes on with live albums).

Really? What about the double 7" release of Fire? Cry is listed as a B-side on that.

And while I've got your attention, do you know the best way to transfer tracks on vinyl to a digital format?

Yeah, that's just a live version, a performance of The Cry/The Electric Co. from Boston. To my knowledge, no studio version of The Cry was ever attempted outside of Is That All? and it remains a live-only mini-song.

And heh, funny you should ask that as it was only a couple of days ago that I stumbled across this: http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/audio/8be8/?cpg=46H

Otherwise, I can't help I'm afraid. I'm sure a cheaper way exists, but everything I own on vinyl that isn't commercially available on any other medium has already been digitally transferred by other people, so I haven't had to figure it out.

Ah...ok. thanks, axver. I guess I'll have to wait til my vinyl copy arrives and listen to it then. And thanks for the link, that looks awesome. Do you think it's available in Oz?

I'd hope it's available here, but I'm not quite sure where you'd get it. You could probably order it in from the States, though I imagine postage would be steep. Hang on, I just threw it into an Australia-only Google search and got this result, though I can't speak for how good the site is and the price is much higher.

crikey! Just a little steep. I think I'll be looking for an adapter instead.
