I'm currently feelin: excited excited

You may have heard some time ago (last spring, I think it was) that Bono was going to have a small part in the upcoming musical movie Across the Universe, a love story set in the 60s, to Beatles music. The photos from the set caused a slight stir, as Bono was decked out in fake muttonchop sideburns and a fake moustache. The rumour was that Bono is to sing "I Am The Walrus" in the film.

Now, being a big U2 fan (and very much a Bono fan) as well as a big Beatles fan and a big fan of musicals, I was excited about this movie. And over a week ago when I went to see Dreamgirls, I was pleasantly surprised when they played the trailer for Across the Universe. I literally squealed through the whole thing, and squealed even harder when they showed Bono for a whole second and a half =P

And I've spent the time since then waiting for the trailer to show up online, and it finally has. So of course the first thing I did was take a screencap of Bono's bit in it:

Looks like he's singing in a club or something. I was hoping maybe he wouldn't wear the hat in the film, but I can live with it =P

The trailer can be viewed here:

http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?id=1552760&sdm=web&qtw=480&qth=300 (requires QuickTime)

I am very, very, very excited about this movie. I haven't found a confirmation on a release date for it, but the word going around the IMDB board for it is "October", which is way too far away. knittedmittens tells me the release date is September 28th.

EDIT: It's occurred to me that maybe I ought to mention that Bono's supposed to be playing Dr. Robert in the film.

I don't think you can blame him for a schtick on this one. It's not like he's the director, costume designer or makeup artist.

I had heard about this film for months but there seemed to be an embargo on photos of anything to do with it. The trailer looks interesting though I'm kind of not intrigued by the film right now.

Thank you, that's slightly sooner. Now let's just hope the single backwater theater in my little city will actually have it.

Not gonna lie, that looks way more like Robin Williams than Bono. Not sure if I like that so much.

I heard about this movie but was pretty skeptical about it, until I saw that trailer. Julie Taymor's awesome (you probably know, but she directed The Lion King on broadway), and now I'm pretty psyched to see the movie! I had no idea Bono was going to be in it - excellent!

I dunno about this. Beatles movies without the Beatles? You know what happened to Sgt. Pepper...

Most of the characters in the film are named after Beatles characters, such as the main characters Jude and Lucy (Hey Jude, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds). Doctor Robert is another Beatles character, with the song "Doctor Robert" being on Revolver.

I got traumas from the moustache but I can't wait to see the movie! I love The Beatles and the trailer looks great. And I think that Dr. Robert is a great song, hah.
