U2 fan art. @ 01:46 am

nina_janeway:
I'm currently feelin: curious curious
I'm currently hearin: U2 - Last Night On Earth

I have made a few U2 things before, most prominently t-shirts, but this poster is my latest item and it turned out so well that I just had to share it here.

Since Bullet The Blue Sky is my favorite U2 song (it's hard and unfair to pick just one but still), and especially the Rattle and Hum version, I chose to make my own poster with just that theme. I could not find any high resolution pictures of the four face photos as displayed on the backside of the Rattle and Hum DVD, so instead I made my own version with newer, very nice black 'n white photos which was exactly what I had in mind. I know that the red chevrons comes from the HTDAAB graphical profile, but they fit in perfectly.

The poster measures 22" x 28".

Have you ever made your own U2 fan art/item/clothing? If so, what did you make and do you have a picture to share?

Very nice!! (I might have thought about flipping Bono's face so they're all facing the same way, but that's just me.) I don't think there's anything wrong w/mixing the eras together. I think it's kinda fitting, to be honest. :)

Thank you, I think so too :D I've always had a thing for red versus black 'n white. If I had a color printer, I could also do an Andy Warhol collage of, for instance, Bono facing the same way like you said :)

If you count graphic art, I've made a ton of wallpapers and icons and things. But as for tangible art, my favourite and recentest thing is my PopTart shirt (yes, I do love me some Pop!Adam):

And then there's this, from 2 years ago XD:

That started when I got bored while taking notes one day XD

Of course graphic art can be counted, which means that all user icons in this community are pieces of art - including my own. Your t-shirt is cute! :) I suppose you handwash it, so that the stones won't fall off?

The illustration looks very .. Pop! :D I don't care much for the PopTart candy, though. Most American candy is too sweet. Swedish candy is so much better! (yep, I'm from Sweden)

Actually, Pop Tarts are toaster pastries. They taste great (but make me feel crappy after eating them) but yes, they've likely got more sugar than flour in them.

Also, I really like the poster you made!

Riight, that's what they are. For some reason I thought of them as candy there for a minute. Sweets are sweets, aren't they.

Thank you :)

The glue is supposed to be permanent, but I handwash it anyway, because I'm paranoid (I put way too much work into that shirt to have all the stones fall off on the first wash!)

You can see my U2 wallpapers here:

Love that song! (but what does it mean?, lol)
Never made a U2 pic, but my 17 year old is supposed to draw Bono by the cliff. I asked her, and she SAID she WOULD, so she BETTER.

Are you wondering what the song lyrics mean...? I'm usually not good at analyzing music, but to me, Bullet the Blue Sky seems to be about the Vietnam war ("I can see those fighter planes... into the hands of America" etc), or any war I guess.

That would be a most interesting drawing, I'm sure. Keep pushing your 17 year old! :D

Ah, maybe you mean the "in a locust wind comes a rattle and hum"? I wonder what that means, too! I know that locust is grasshopper... ahh, maybe it means that in a grasshopper swarm/wind comes a rumbling from fighterplane engines. Hmm. :)
