@U2: "Like A Song: Pop Goes My World" @ 08:36 am

beowulfjones:
atu2.com just posted an article which I think demands to be read immediately.

"Like A Song: Pop Goes My World" is an excellent article by atu2's Marylinn Maione. It's to be the first in a series of personal essays on songs and albums that've had great meaning or impact in the lives of the authors. This one focuses on the Pop album... and is a wonderful, moving read.

What a fabulous article! I love Pop, no matter how much people trash it. I really don't think that, once you get past the smoke and disco mirrors, that Pop is very far from any other U2 album. They've got a long history of writing songs with divergent lyrics and music, frenetic beats and dark, angsty words. Pop's just another version of that as far as I can see.

And I completely get the running references, there's usually several songs from Pop (or at least remixes of them) on my running playlist. Discotheque is an awesome running song.

That's such a good album. Then again, U2 doesn't do bad albums. ;)
