beatlette:
So my dad is watching the movie Blown Away and they play a lot of U2 songs, mainly the major singles from The Joshua Tree. It's amusing to see Tommy Lee Jones sing along to some of it.

Now for some discussion :) Any movies or shows (like Friends) that have U2 songs you like or noticed were in it?

The TV show Cold Case did an all u2 song episode, with lots of U2 all the way through, everything from early stuff like Bad and MLK, to Window in the Skies. The ending montage played WOWY in full. It was very cool.

I have noticed that they are on TONS of soundtracks. Threesome has an awesome version of "Dancing Barefoot" done by them.

"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" is on the soundtrack for Runaway Bride. "October" is in something called They Call it an Accident, "Walk to the Water" is in a movie called The Courier, and um. . . this.

funny thing, i watched the movie the first time, just to continue hearing which U2 songs they'd choose to use :) and i love how tommy lee jones' character is irish and introduced to U2 and wonders to himself, why havent i heard these guys before? and the best scene is when he's in the old ship with the stereo blasting at full volume and he's singing while working. (making a bomb)

I heard Dirty Day in an episode of Queer as Folk once. It was pretty cool, I was just watching this rather serious scene, and then Dirty Day is playing low in the background, and I was just like "omg that's Dirty Day!"

Taking Lives (an AWESOME thriller with Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke) has "Bad" playing over the opening and closing credits. :)

Love that film!

Scrubs has had Beautiful day playing in one ep (JD's dancing, Turk tells him to be cool and he says "Well I'll just put on something that rocks") and Stuck in a moment (when theres a scene with them going off a cliff in a car :/)

On The Office (U.S. version), Michael makes a video about the "Faces of Scranton" and uses With or Without You. It's hilarious because the song is TOTALLY WRONG for the video.

Zoo Station was used in About A Boy. It was kind of cool, this kid was ringing the doorbell and it was in synch with the song.

Other movies I can think of that had U2 music are City of Angels, Elizabethtown, The Devil Wears Prada, and Click.

The O.C. used Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own. The song was completely wrong for the scene, but I think it was around the time that HTDAAB came out.

I practically erupted into applause when Ultraviolet (Light My Way) showed up towards the end of the Adam Sandler film Click. Some other well-placed U2 songs I've noticed have included: Pride (In the Name of Love) during the road trip climax in Elizabethtown and All I Want Is You is prevalent towards the end of Reality Bites. I remember listening to Achtung Baby for the very first time and hearing the beginning of Zoo Station and thinking to myself, "Where the hell have I heard this song before? I know it was in a movie somewhere." As someone already mentioned, that movie was About a Boy, the awesome Hugh Grant comedy.

Generally I've watched movies already knowing that a U2 song was in the soundtrack, but the one that caught me by surprise was a scene in Veronia Guerin where they dance around the room to the U2 cover of Everlasting Love. :)  I think I also saw Vanilla Sky forgetting that Wild Honey was used in it briefly.

*late*, but I should add to this that in The Pillow Book, Ewan McGregor takes his clothes off (completely) while Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car is playing.
