I'm currently feelin: cheerful cheerful

Hi, I'm new around here! I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a live version of Gloria? Also, direction to a place where I can find lots of live U2 tracks would be even better. :) Thanks so much!

Hi,

The only live version of Gloria I have (that I can think of offhand) is from Under a Blood Red Sky - I'm going out in a minute but I'd be happy to upload it when I get home :-)

I have quote a few live versions of Gloria, I can upload them, or try to before I head off to bed.

and u2start.com is a great site for bootlegs, you have to register, but it's free.

Thanks for the bootleg tip! I would like to have a couple versions of Gloria, so if you would like to upload some, I'd be so grateful. I'm in no hurry for them either. :-) Thank you!!!

I unfortunately don't have the capabilities to upload songs, but if you're interested in a live version of Gloria, I highly recommend their performance from the Rock's Hottest Ticket show from the Joshua Tree tour. That's where I feel they really got the song right. The easiest place to find a live version of the song though of course is on the album Under a Blood Red Sky from the War tour which is available at virtually any record shop. Hope you enjoy it.

Here's the two "official" live versions + three bootlegs.

Unfortunately I don't have access to all my old bootlegs at the moment, but here's what I do have on me:

Under a Blood Red Sky (Red Rocks)
Live From The Point Depot 1989

Lovetown 1989//Sydney 18.10.89
Vertigo 2005//Boston 26.05.05
Vertigo 2005//Buffalo 09.12.05
Live March 17, 1982

Download Links

Obviously the first two are much better quality. I'm not sure where the last track was recorded, sorry, but I do know that it was that date. In fact, if anyone could tell me where the boys played that day I'd appreciate it, lol!

I'll post some more links if you like when I get my other hard drive back!

U2 were in New York and played The Ritz as part of the October tour. They played to a sell out crowd of 3200.

In their main set they played: Gloria/Another Time Another Place/I Threw A Brick/A Day Without Me/An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart/Rejoice/Cry-Electric Co/I Fall Down/October/Tomorrow/I Fall Down*/Twilight/Out Of Control.

In their encore they played: Fire/11 O'Clock Tick Tock/The Ocean

(*I don't know why I Fall Down is listed twice)

Interestingly piece of U2 trivia associated with the gig, U2 were actually supposed to play live on a float in the St Patrick's Day parade but just before the parade Bobby Sands, an IRA member who was on a hunger strike died. The parade organisers wanted to turn it into a tribute for Sands and U2 pulled out, not wanting the political affiliation. This Ritz gig [and one the following night] were organised so that they hadn't wasted their time by being in New York.

Oh and btw ... I am not that much of a U2 freak that I knew all that off the top of my head ... I had to look in a couple of my 70 or so books to find that all out.

Thank you for those, there were a couple there I didn't have. Just wanted to let you know though that the link for Boston is actually Buffalo again. (Buffalo is in there twice)
Thanks again!
