U2 - VERTIGO 05 LIVE FROM CHICAGO 2 CD IMPORT NEW @ 10:23 am

eclipse69:
Current Location: 85024
I'm currently hearin: Japan - Life In Tokyo

Anyone know anything about this item? Ebay seems to be the only place to show a listing when you do a Google search. The listings claim these cds are gold, not cdrs, and that they are legal. Yet, I can't find anything about them on U2.com, or any other reputable U2 site. The discs contain the same audio from the official Chicago Vertigo dvd.

I'm not positive, but that might be the bonus CD you get when you renew your membership at u2.com. I just renewed mine and they said they were going to send me a special CD.

Not positive about this, but that could be the one being sold on ebay.

U2.com's CDs so far have been U2 Communication, with some (four?) songs from Vertigo Chicago and the ZooTV audio. From what I've heard, the next one will be Slane or at least from 2001 (in other words, another totally useless disc giving us something we already have).

The one you get for early renewal at U2.com this time is a Limited Edition double CD "ZOO2LIVE". So it's probably just the audio of the DVD, perhaps mixed up a bit.

That's been the current one for nearly a year. A new one's coming soon.

Of course, because U2.com sucks so much, some people who renew quite early will actually get a second copy of the ZooTV audio. It happened last time around with U2 Communication.

I don't think it is, now that I've received one. It's from China, and it's on the Polydor label. It has a barcode. They two cds are gold on the playing surface, not silver. BUT! When you play them, there is a split second gap between each track, like when you copy a live album and don't set the burn with no gap. I'm thinking these are definitley high-quality bootlegs. The disc came shrinkwrapped with some useless gay anime (Jeez how I loathe anime!) postcard.

LOL! You're probably right then, it's a bootleg.

That would be a bootleg, and you could probably find a free copy of the DVD's source gigs for download/trade somewhere (I can't help more though, as I've stopped trading). In fact, if you just want the DVD's audio, not the individual gigs in their unedited form, it is possible to simply rip the audio yourself (though again, I'm no help as the software I use is no longer available for free; I'm sure a quick Google search would turn up something).

I have the means to burn audio from any dvd with a external cd writer that I have as a component on my stereo. It is real-time though, so I don't often indulge in the time it takes to cull really great performances. I do have a lot of great things on my iPod as a result that most people probably don't. :-)
