Hey everyone. I just thought I'd post a rather interesting story in that I very recently had the wonderful opportunity to meet Phil Joanou, who of course is the director of the U2 videos Bad, When Love Comes To Town, One Tree Hill, If God Will Send His Angels, One, All Because of You and Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own. And of course above all he was the director behind U2: Rattle and Hum. Let me just say that the guy could not have been nicer or more gracious. When I told him I was a U2 fan, he instantly went off on how much of a joy it has been to have a relationship with the band. He said that they are every bit as kind as you would think. He also mentioned that at one point they were going to score his film, Three O'Clock High, but scheduling conflicts for Achtung Baby (he said Achtung Baby, but according to the timing, it would make more sense if it were The Joshua Tree) forced them to drop out. But when they saw and heard the score by Tangerine Dream, they had nothing but good things to say about it. I told him I was particularly fond of his If God Will Send His Angels video. That one is easily one of my very favorites. I got him to sign my CD copy of Rattle and Hum. I regret that I didn't have the film DVD with me, or any of the video DVDs, but it was certainly better than nothing. Basically, it was a great experience. Joanou is a very cool guy who is good to his fans, and it's always nice to meet a celebrity who is like that.
