reecord2:
I'm currently feelin: sleepy sleepy
I'm currently hearin: The Killers - Human

I know this is random, and trivial for sure, but things are quiet lately. I have always wondered, when U2 play live, how come Edge is stage right, and Adam is stage left. ALWAYS. Since... I dunno, ever? The beginning of U2. I Will Follow to Vertigo. Is there a secret reason? Is it the secret key to U2's success? Or do they, well, just like it better?

isn't it just the standard band formation - the bassist is meant to be closest to the hi hat so they can keep the beat going more easily?

The Who had Entwistle stage right. He said that it made it easier to see the bass drum, since Moon could be a little unpredictable.

It's probably how they first practiced.

Also, The Edge used to manipulate his echo unit by hand during the show, and he used his right hand for that. It was on a stool stage right when I saw them in 81. It would need to have been between he and Bono if he had been stage left.

During performances of "40" they always switch stage positions, though. Adam gets a laugh out of freaking those of us always in front of the Edge out.
