Next single @ 09:49 pm

canadanne:
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight has been confirmed as the third single from NLOTH, out on 17th August.

Personally I think that's a terrible choice of single. Not that it really matters - everything from this album is flopping in the charts anyway, for various reasons - but to me, Stand Up Comedy would have been a much better choice. What do you guys think? If you were picking the next single, which track would you have chosen and why?

The talented Irish animation film-maker David O'Reilly has been commissioned to create a video for I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight. Interesting... another cartoon band video perhaps?! :D
(It'll probably be weird, if his previous work is anything to go by...)

I don't think there's a song on this album that could be considered single material...

Yay! I think this is a great choice and I'm happy they picked it. (:
I think Stand Up Comedy< is one of the worst songs in the album and I'm glad they didn't pick it. I wouldn't mind if they left it out of the album and put a different song there instead, lol.

It's extremely sad to me that the singles aren't succeeding. Get On Your Boots isn't a great song too, but it's catchy enough, and Magnificent is an amazing song, very singly and very U2 and I don't understand why it doesn't succeed. ):

When ATYCLB came out, the Israeli radio played Beautiful Day, Stuck In A Moment Elevation alll of the time. Then, when HTDAAB came out they played Sometime You Can Make It On a lot too, but they almost didn't play the other songs, and now they almost doesn't play any of the singles from the new album. It truly breaks my heart.

But, I know that it's a pretty great album and I love it. I know that most of their concerts are sold out and that I'm going to see them for the first time this year, so that's what really matters. (:

That's my favorite song on the CD! Though I don't really know much about what makes a good single and what doesn't *shrugs*

I think NLOTH is a brilliant album. But not a radio friendly album. I do think "Stand Up Comedy" has a catchy vibe that might do well on alternative stations. "I'll go crazy" probably won't do very well even though it's a good song.

I don't know about other cities, but I swear in Kansas City all the radio stations ever play is Nickelback or Taylor Swift. Good luck for any new single/artist/band/music trying to get some air time in the heartland.

PS I'm looking forward to an animated video. Sounds cute!

Moment of Surrender! (Maybe a shortened version?) Just imagine that song with an Anton Corbin directed music video. Guhhhhhhhhhh

I like I'll Go Crazy but like other people have said this album, while amazing, isn't really a single album. I'd have preferred Moment of Surrender just because I think its brilliant. Stand Up Comedy actually is one of my least favorite songs on the album but I agree, that is the only song I could really see as being played on the radio.

I kind of wish that more of NLOTH songs would get played because I think this is their best album since achtung baby, but then again, whats being played on the radio where I live is basically the black eyed peas and jonas brothers so its not like I expected differently. It might not be getting as much attention as songs like Vertigo did, but I'm much happier with them making great songs that don't a huge amount of publicity than just okay songs that get some buzz. There ticket sales are quite obviously showing that U2 is still, well, U2 with or without getting played a lot on the radio.

I'm sorry to those who like it, but I think "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" is one of the worst songs U2 has done in a long time and is the weakest song on this album. I have more skips on that song than the play count.

I agree that this album does not lend itself to many singles. All of my favorites are the anti-singles!

If I had to pick one, I'd definitely say "Breathe."

I like the choice of single.
Stand Up Comedy is, as someone else here said, one of the worst songs on the album.

Besides, they got their funk out in singles with Get On Your Boots.

Breathe was my vote for single #3. Sadly, I don't think the one that was chosen will chart very well, though I did think the previous two picks had decent single appeal (even though the album isn't very "accessible" to the average listener to begin with).

It's really interesting to me to see the divide between people who love Crazy Tonight and those who hate it...it seems like everyone goes one way or the other! I myself love it, but I have no idea how it will stand as a single. I thought "Magnificent" was the most single-friendly out of all of them...but even then, I bet at least some radio stations didn't want to play it as much for its religiosity.

I do not dislike Crazy, although it's not one of my favourites. I think lacks the strength that a single should have. I quite like Comedy, but to me neither it has what it takes to be a single. Breathe would have been a better choice. But I agree with those who proposed Moment of Surrender - not a catchy song, but one of the best songs in the album.

Magnificent was the perfect single and I'm sorry to hear that in most countries it was almost a flop. I'm italian, and italian radios often play it. Not as often as they did with songs like Vertigo or Beautiful day, but I hear Magnificent daily - and that makes me happy.

I think I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight is perfect for a single. It's catchy enough and the chorus has a typically single sound. I mean it would be good to hear it on radio. Boots was great as a single, but Magnificent was definitely not. And even though I really like the song when I heard it between other songs on radio it sounded weird to me.

Bad choice as a single. They would have to make an outstanding video to make it accessible to the mass audience. Breathe or NLOTH would have been a better choice IMO

Noooo, I hate this song lol

I think it should've been Breathe! Breathe is great and it's among the ones that get closest to being radio friendly in this album!

IGCIIDGCT (which doesn't even have cool looking initials)is just silly, I can predict the mockery, sorry lol

I'd pick Breathe.
Doesn't really make a difference what the singles are to me though because I never hear them on the radio/see them on tv anyway.

yeah im not a huge fan of I'll Go Crazy if I Dont Go Crazy Tonight, but I think its better than other songs on the album like Stand Up Comedy.

I have to agree with who said all they hear is Nickleback/Taylor Swift type stuff because that is all I hear too and Im not even in the 'heartland'.
