A Day Without Me vinyl @ 04:02 pm

moydrumm:
Hi all!

I have question for you. I recently saw the A Day Without Me 7 inch vinyl in a shop. It has the following catlog number: "CBS 8905X". On www.u2wanderer.org it says that this single was the first release, but other singles from U2's early years with an 'X' at the end, are re-releases for the "U2 pacs". I collect all the first released singles, thus can anyone tell me if this is a real first released single?

Thanks!

I'm not a collector so I can't speak to the question personally, but I can tell you Aaron really knows his stuff, and it would be rare, indeed, for him to be disseminating misinformation.

http://u2discography.free.fr/u2/php/display.php?sectionid=1&titleid=5&format=ALL&item=&country=&promo=1 seems to indicate that the first pressings have the UKTM number in the fine print on the A-side, as well as a unique CBS logo on the reverse side of the pic sleeve (without the "X" in question).

That being said, Patrice still lists the catalog number as 8905X, so it could very well be a typo/mistake on both sites. He and Aaron do collaborate when it comes to info/images sometimes, I think.

Going by the images and your description, though, it sounds like a re-press to me, though.

I would have said it was a repress for the packs.
