Every Breaking Wave

Another new song around 26:50!

Every breaking wave on the shore
Tells the next one there'll be one more
Every gambler knows that to lose
Is what you're really there for

Somewhere our spirits nest / Summer outs fearlessness (??)*
Now I speak into an answerphone
Like every silent(?) leaf on the breeze
Winter wouldn't leave it alone

Hey hey now
Hey hey now

I don't know if I'm that strong
I don't know if I'm that strong
Don't know if I'm that strong
To be somebody, to need someone

Every sailor knows that the sea
Is a friend made enemy
And every shipwrecked soul knows what it is
To live without intimacy

I thought I heard the master's voice
It's hard to listen while you preach
Like every broken wave on the shore
This was as far as I can reach

Hey hey now
Hey hey now

I don't know if I'm that strong
I don't know if I'm that strong
Don't know if I'm that strong
Enough to be somebody, be someone

The waves know we're on the rocks
And drowning is no sin
You know my heart is
The same place yours has been

We know the fear of winning
So we end before we begin
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oooo-oo-oo-ooh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oooo-oo-oo-ooh

The waves know we're on the rocks
And drowning is no sin
You know my heart is
The same place yours has been

We know the fear of winning
So we end before we begin

Any corrections to make?

EDIT: Now on YouTube...

A few thoughts:
~ Love the falsetto ooooh's (once again Bono proves he *can* sing high notes when he wants to!)
~ Love the harmonies on "You know" / "We know" etc.
~ Something about the guitar reminds me of Springhill Mining Disaster in places. At least, I think that's what it reminds me of. EDIT: On second thoughts, I think it's Van Diemen's Land... or something else I can't put my finger on.
~ Bono recycles a lyric from The Playboy Mansion.
~ I can't decide if I like the lyrics or not. At least they seem well thought out.
~ Wasn't this song meant to be the lead single from Songs Of Ascent? Doesn't sound like a lead single to me. Quite nice, but rather slow and doesn't really have the "wow" factor needed.
~ Could sound really lovely with the full studio treatment, but it's hard to tell how good it is from a live version.

* EDIT: At the Vienna gig, he sings "Summer left me fearlessness" and "Like every fallen leaf". In Zurich it sounds like "Summer I was fearlessness".
