Hello Hello!!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack @ 04:50 pm

rational_twists:
I'm currently feelin: curious curious

Due to school and work and hating life for awhile and then finally figuring out my life and trying to organize it, I took a long hiatus from U2 and their music. Which, in retrospect, probably could have protected me from a LOT of depression, but nevertheless, I'm back and my love for the band is stronger than ever.

Seeing this community dwindle into practically non-existent makes me sad. Does anybody know of any active forums to discuss the magic that is this band? I'm also getting back into reading fan-fiction, but there seems to be VERY slim pickings for that.

Or perhaps any chance of attempting to breathe some life back into this forum? :)

http://u2.interference.com seems to still be breathing, at least...

I feel your pain! I'm 'rediscovering' them as well. A U2 song will come up on the shuffle, and suddenly the only thing I can listen to for hours is U2.

I would love to see this community pick up a little. I joined a more active U2 forum recently, but the amount of U2 hatred on it is pretty depressing... we were never that negative around here!

Seriously! If you don't mind sharing, which forum is it?

This was quite easily the best U2 forum around the Internet, to me at least. I, too, would love to see this community thriving again. Even between albums and tours, I don't remember it being quite this dead. :(

It was the @U2 forum I joined. I thought I might find some other LJers on there, but I haven't seen any.

I agree, I loved this place. Sadly I think a lot of people have abandoned LiveJournal as the site goes downhill and other social networking sites become more popular. Still, I will never give up on this comm and I hope there's life in it yet! We should all get into the habit of posting news or random discussion topics for others to respond to.

A lot of the forum members seem to spend more time slagging off their least favourite U2 music (and pretty much everything Bono does in the world) than saying anything positive about them. There are fans on there who can't stand anything they've done since Pop, and frankly I don't understand why they devote so much attention to the forum of a band they no longer like. All it does is drag down the mood for everyone else who *does* still like them. :/  Even when people start 'worship threads' to celebrate their favourite songs and albums, they're immediately taken over by haters writing it off as the worst thing U2 have ever recorded. I've seen hatred for songs I never dreamed *anyone* could dislike.

So yeah, I like our LJ community better!

Wow.

It's one thing to dislike some of the music the band has produced. But there's a respectful way to do it and a disrespectful way to do it. And if everything the band does makes you angry (collectively or individually), then why WOULD you join a forum for fans of said band?

I'm all for thinking up some good discussion topics for the few of us who are still around! :)
