"Larry in Bathtub Making Waves With Mermaid!" @ 09:05 am

hapavox:
Last night, I finally saw the video for "Electrical Storm". I stayed up 'til around 3am flipping through approximately *3* music video channels...MTV, MTV2, and VH1. I had nooooo such luck with MTV and MTV2 because they kept looping the same videos over and over again between the hours of 12:30am and 5:30am. NO kidding! DO NOT WATCH MTV! During that time-frame I probably saw that horrid, awful Eminem video 3 or 4 times. They kept it on heavy rotation!!! Unbelievable. No sign of "Electrical Storm" on either MTV or MTV2...so I had to keep a lookout on VH1. With much patience and luck, I finally caught it around 3:10am. I was sleepy as heck!!! For those who haven't seen it on television, you might as well just wait for it when it's released on that special DVD single format in October. No joke! You will have great trouble catching it on MTV or MTV2 because it's NOT on their mindless 'rotation' yet!!

I liked the video though. The 'grumpy-drummer-boy' really had a splash in the tub with the mermaid. The smooching/caressing sessions in the bathtub reminded me of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" video. Still, I'm a big fan of Anton Corbijn and I loved the black and white treatment of this video for a change! Excellent choice for a video director!! Very artistic.

I saw it on Mtv 2 at between 6:00 and 6:10 CST this morn. I just happened to flip over there before getting ready for work. I missed the very beginning, but I did get to see the best parts. heh.

but since Mtv2 seems to love to play blocks at the same time over and over again(and damn they do love that EM-N-M vid don't they?), ES may come on tomorrow at the same time. I'd like to hope anyway.

It did remind me of Wicked Games, except Larry kept looking downward on the kissing scenes. He didn't seem to make eye contact with her much then. I wonder if that was supposed to be the plan. (I would imagine so.)

I liked the video too. completely unexpected. and nice. veeery nice;-)

A great video. All I know is that MTV and MTV2 are dumb for showing the kinds of videos they do in consecutive blocks!!! The should've premiered this video once every hour if you ask me!Well, in the very beginning Larry is coming out of the water holding what looks like a television set and makes his way towards the shore. Next thing you know, he's carrying a trunk and later literally drags the bathtub out of the water! Amazing!

He was looking down in the smooching sessions but he got his due! This time, he was definitely the feature attraction as the other three got very minimal exposure...most especially Adam and The Edge who we didn't get to see in the video until almost the very last part. Overall, a great video to say the least. It's about time Anton Corbijn directed another video for them. The last he directed was the black and white Version 2 video of "Please" back in 1997. So, 5 years away from a U2 video is a long time considering he has practically been their prinicpal photographer since the mid '80s.

I love the video. It was on VH1's Jump Start yesterday morning at about 8:10. Fabulous. :)

VH1 is much more reliable and quite respectable than MTV. The only thing that's going to keep me tuning in to MTV from now on is that upcoming and always delayed Diary of Bono and Chris Tucker now rescheduled for October.

Apart from that...MTV remains to be filled with senseless crap!

I have not yet seen this video on TV. I downloaded it yesterday, but it is a tiny little video on RP and when I blow it up to actually *see* something, it is very blurry. But, I just couldn't tolerate listening to anymore of that rap crap on MTV. It was really getting to me. I'll try again today though.

I hear ya Lynne!:) The quality of RP isn't the best. I would stick with VH1 from now on. Again, MTV and MTV2 are just not airing it enough. Hope you'll catch it soon on tv...

Couldn't agree with you more on that one Dave! Anton has done great work for the band throughout most of their career. As you probably already know...Corbijn has worked with the likes of Depeche Mode and many others in the past...including a video for Joy Division. He definitely has a great track record and it's great that U2 has used his talent for this new video once more..

i caught it on mtv tuesday morning. i cheated and just recorded the whole 6-9 video blocked, it was played around an hour into the show. what surprised me was it wasn't one of the "spanking new" videos. whatever. liked it a lot :) a little confused, but what else is new.

Smart move! I should've also just recorded a whole block of time. Although, I think I would be wasting tape that I would have to somehow erase because the bulk of MTV videos is just useless to me!:( I could also imagine putting it on record and the video never even airing in any of the time frames which is quite possible with MTV.

I also looked at the real player download on of the fansites and the video also didn't contain the "Spankin' New Video" logo on the usual right-hand side. I don't know what's up with that? However, I do find that logo bit of MTV distracting and it's kinda cheesy too...

I just came in from an outing to 7-11 and it was on VH1! I heard the music and then tried to remember if i left the tv or radio on and made a mad dash down the hall to watch :) I LOVE IT! (of course) But i adore mostly anything black and white and I couldnt get over Larry and the girl. I wonder how much coaxing it took to get that boy to be the main point of the video. Such a new and exciting thing. I can not wait untill the new album and tour ::sigh:: patience is such a virtue..

Thank god I'm not crazy.

I wasn't even aware this was out yet. I was up at 3 in the morning with a horrible stomachache, flipping channels. I saw the last 10 seconds of the video. Basically my thoughts were "U2! Huh, I wonder what song this is for. Hey is that LARRY with a mermaid? Electrical Storm!? No way, that video's out already!?!" By the time it was over I swear I actually believed I dreamt that video had played but that it really didn't.

Now i know I wasn't dreaming. :-)
