I'm currently feelin: bored bored
I'm currently hearin: NIN

I was googling, and found some anti-Bono-ness here : http://ilx.wh3rd.net/thread.php?msgid=1893532
they even diss'd Morrissey :( painfull.

Seems alot of people didn't like the superbowl performance or U2 in general. I haven't seen all of that performance, but from little bits i saw, it was good. Shame it has to have football afterwards. :D

What did everybody here think of the superbowl performance? I'm guessing you all loved it, but was it on-a-par with their elevation tour stuff?

FYI - you can watch the video of the performance at U2.com ;)

I thought it was really good - I missed the televised version, myself... stupid work. Bah.

I disagree, I didn't get anything political from it, all I saw was an honest and from the heart memorial for 4000 people who died in four acts of violence. Motivations, Fanaticism and the provocation that led 'otherwise peaceful' people to do it were immaterial. I think Bono is of high enough character not to use such a tragedy as a chance to make a political statement.

Not just cause I'm a U2 fan, but

U2's Superbowl performance was in fact the best Half-time show I've seen in five years easily... Much MUCH better than last year's tribute to pop-rock-and-rap-because-we-can't-make-up-our-minds. I mean, honestly, Brittany Spears, Fred Durst (is he even popular anymore? I haven't heard his name lately) and Aerosmith sharing a stage? Go away!

I loved the Superbowl performance. It was just such an emotional experience, just like any U2 show. The 9/11 tribute was just as it should have been. *sigh*.... Think I'll go watch it again!!! :o)

I loved it, particularly since they played MLK :)

But I was watching it with a bunch of people, and when Bono showed the American flag on the inside of his jacket, everyone groaned, and one guy announced "Ladies and Gentleman: U2 has just sold out!" Being in Canada, this seemed to everyone as blatant U.S. ass-kissing, and my attempts to explain to them that Bono was doing that on the tour months before 9/11 fell and deaf ears.

hmm. I liked it. mlk got me teary, mostly cu it was so surprising.
I however did NOT like the way those screens fell. I thought it was just... too much. :/ not horrible, I just think it hit a little too... I don't even know how to descibe. it was unnecessary i suppose. i don't know. :/
