Hello Hello!!

gravitysdream:
I'm currently hearin: U2 - Out of Control

I have done the following;

Quit my job
Sold my car
Nearly got arrested
Stood in the bitter cold for 11hrs
Sang songs in my underwear in front of a radio station
Undergone hypnosis
Changed political affiliation
and yes
Nearly had an emotional breakdown

ALL BECAUSE OF U2!!!!!!

Do I regret any of it? ABSOLUTLY FUCKING NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(for the full story on each of the above you'll just have to ask!)
Oh and if you're wondering, the closest I have ever gotten to them is Bono on the heart and an autographed CD I won (which is another interesting story).

Im so pathetic.

I sympathize... or rather, praise :o)

I have skipped school, missed my rent, hence forth forcing me to move, survived near riots, gotten heat stroke, maxed out two credit cards (one of them mine... the other a friend's...) stolen spoons (then banged together spoon bracelets at two in the morning for Adam), and actually wrote my Senior Year Thesis on these guys...

And what have I gotten for all of this? A hug from Larry, a wink and laugh from Adam, a nod and pic from Edge, and the smile and kiss of Bono... with pictures to prove all of it. Small pay off in comparison, but worth every minute.

I am a die hard fan, now and forever. They are worth any sacrifice :o)

HAHAHAH I haven't gotten a damn thing from any of them! When i went to my first show in Clemson South Carolina for the POPMART tour I bought bono a really nice chess set with a rollup vinyl board and a carrying bag....although I serious doubt he ever got it. :(

What's even more odd is that I don't know if there is anything I would really want from them, personally. Sure a hug from Larry, nod and laugh from Adam, pic and nod from Edge, and a kiss from Bono would be awesome (I subscribe to what that guy in some magazine said that if could have sex with any person who would be and he said Bono because Bono is so cool nobody would think he was gay!). However (and I know I'll regret this one day) I don't think there is anything more they could give me that they haven't already.

The music of U2 has given me hope, strength, enjoyment, picked me up when I'm down or depressed, helped me through those difficult times, put on one helluva a show that offically mark the four greatest moments in my life (four shows that ive been to..), I don't know what more you can ask from anyone who's already given you hope...happiness..and the will to live.

Anywhos I have a small little U2 fund/savings bank so that the next time they go on tour I won't have to max out credit cards, quit my job, sell my car, or beg/borrow/steal money ever again! hehe. I'm happy enough listening to my music and pretending to be Bono, singing in my underwear dancing around myliving room.

God Bless them.

Actually, I have been a fan forever, but only saw my first four shows on Elevation. I met the guys on my VERY first show... it was unbelievable.

But, I agree. It's weird how you can't imagine your life without something as silly as a band. But really, I can't. Whenever I am down, I just pop in any of their cds. There is a song to describe every moment of my life.

It's actually thanks to them that I am heading into a career in Tour Management and Production. Until I saw them live, I was on my way to California to become a movie director/screenwriter. They quite literally changed my life :o)

Oh, and usually the people that work for the band are really good with getting them things from the fans. Come on... a friend of mine got a pack of Chic-Lits sent to Adam, only to meet him the next day and find out he really did get them. :o) So you never know!

Take care, (and I should really look into setting up a savings for the next tour, too... or I have a feeling that I am going to be moving again ;o)

Okay, so this is a tangent, but I was at the Popmart show in Clemson too. :)

I've never quit a job because of U2, but I definitely skipped classes a few times and I was late to work at least once.

Even worse of a tangent.... The popmart show in clemson was my first and I was right up beside the lemon. When it was moved out it blocked my whole view... Then WOWY came on (my favorite song in the whole wide world) and I, yes me, had a panic attack cus I coudn;'t see a damn thing.

So I dove through the crowd to get a view of the band and stood up on a chair and became awash in ecstasy.... Hey gimmie a break I was 14 :-P

I left a book for Bono at their hotel during the JT tour. (April, 1987). In July I recieved a postcard back from Cecila at U2 world service saying that Bono sends his thanks. For me, lack of sleep...I had GA tix for Chicago 2 in October, 2001. We crashed at the hotel for three hours and went back to get in line so we'd be in the heart. Froze to death too. I went to Vegas that November and was in the stands, only to sleep three hours, go to the airport and find that Southwest at 5:30 AM back to LA was 26 U2 fans wanting to line up (like me) to make the heart for LA 3 (11-19). So there you go, if U2 has GA again ask about some of the stories in line, they're insane!

i had fairly good experiences with GA, personally. i was at the atlanta show someone was describing earlier, when security really messed up and split the lines, which created a mob...and then opened the door to it. i got in line at 3:30 pm with my best friend and was only like number 60. we got shafted in the mob, but we still managed to be where we really wanted to be, which was at the outside tip of the heart.
and in washington dc, we spent ten hours in line, again probably number 65 or so, and while we weren't at the exact tip of the heart, we were only about five feet down from the tip, still "front row." and bono still saw my sign and i still got a birthday song. :) i couldn't be more pleased with any of my elevation experiences.

I was at the Atlanta show in march and september. I stood at the tip of the heart the whole time in march. It was awesome we had all that room to dance; not to mention the two people dressed up as the belly dancer and the fly!
