Zoo TV? @ 07:57 pm

signifiers:
So, while on holiday, I bought myself a copy of U2 at the End of the World. I enjoyed it immensely, but I'm wondering- they were mentioning having a TV network called Zoo TV.... did this ever actually happen? Was there ever a true Zoo TV, or was it all in theory?

In the book they say they ultimately decided against having one because of the time and commitment it would have taken. I'm fairly certain it never came to pass.

Actually, three "episodes" were produced and aired on MTV (you can see the original announcement here

I recall that during the hype of the POP era, MTV broadcast the first two episodes (I believe I have them on tape somewhere) and had planned to air the third but never did.

As far as I remember, they had no direct U2 contect in any of the shows.

After further investigation, I discovered all three shows (30 minutes each) DID air on MTV (in the US) on 4/13/97, 4/20,97, and 4/27/97.

Yes, I'm glad you mentioned those airings. If I recall those MTV programs were all produced and directed by cyber-punks, EBN(Emergency Broadcast Network) who compiled most of the footage from the 2nd leg of the ZooTV Outside Broadcast Tour.
