"With Or Without You/Love Will Tear Us Apart"(Live) @ 06:44 pm

hapavox:
I was just listening to a live boot version of "With Or Without You" on the Rock's Hottest Ticket: U2 Live in Chicago 1987 boot and couldn't help but think about the tiny snippet Bono sang of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" at the end of WOWY. I guess it was just appropriate that the song struck a chord in me considering today, 18th of May, happens to be Ian Curtis' *23rd* Death Anniversary. And to many of you, Joy Division may not be familiar but I suppose they were very influential to U2 at the start. If any of you saw the video documentary of NewOrder's Story from 1993 you'll see a special guest cameo of Bono in the film talking about the band and Ian Curtis as one of his main influences. Nevertheless, today is a day of remembrance for one of the greatest singers/songwriters that ever lived.

Rest In Peace, Ian C. 18.5.80. Sleep tonight and May Your Dreams be realized.

Indeed. It's one of my favorites too. In an age of cd-r burning...I was fortunate enough to find a copy of this in it's orginal boot silver cd form with full-colour sleeve and everything circa 1995...when boots were still being pressed by the big boot names like KTS records and so forth.

Awesome! The very cool thing about the original cd set of this particular boot was the sleeve is rather cool I think for a boot. If you take a look at it...it has a bit of commentary about the show and also features a Joshua Tree Tour 1987 calendar in it.

I guess this show was put out by Red Phantom Records in cooperation with KTS Records....if that even makes sense. But I guess it does considering you're one of the old folks like me who have been collecting U2 material for a long time. I think we're sounding rather "old:...in here Dave!:)

I've been collecting cdboots since 1994-ish or so when the cd-boots really became big.

I originally started collecting boots in 1992 when Salome: The Axtung Beibi Outtakes "distributed" by Jewels came out in its original 3CD-set form. Officially that boot was my first ever given to me by my older brother as a very memorable X-Mas present! My first live U2 boot was also from 1992 with London Zoo: U2 Live in Earl's Court London which I thought was really good with the exception of the first 4 songs.

One day...when I have time...I'll probably transfer all the originals into Cd-r form so I don't have to play them and get 'em scratched or something. The cd-r's will serve as backup. Plus, I still have to update my bootlist and owe Lynn and Jen quite a bit of stuff to send out in the mail. I should get started on that!!!!!!!

If you remember...the boots back in the mid-nineties when they started to show up in second-hand record stores were priced at $30(1 Cd) to $50+ for a 2-Cd set. I bought an original copy of ZooEuropa: Live from Dublin for about $55 with original pressed cd's and colour sleeve. Now, I can see a copy of this infamous soundboard boot for about $18...but...in cd-r form with photocopied sleeve. Not the same thing, in my book! Boots aren't worth anything in the official collector's market but I believe they're worthy something if you are really into a band.

Here's my lates acquistion in its original cd and sleeve form:

I saw this in a record shoppe and couldn't pass it by! It's in original cd form with colour sleeve + digipak box!!!! I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Although, this isn't the 'Real' ZooRadio Transmit that was issued by Island Records in 1992 as a promo cd. I'm still liking this version though because I've been looking for it for a while. And I bought for just $15 because I guess the people that worked in the cd shoppe didn't know what they had in this rare silver cd boot!:)

Yep. All those cd sets I got were 45-50 bucks but I refused to pay more than 60. Fortunately not too many were priced that high.
