Hello Hello!!

I'm currently feelin: blah blah
I'm currently hearin: U2 - Please

Hello. I'm Nicole and I'm from the Seattle area. And, you guessed it, I'm new.

I've finally decided to add myself to a couple communities, and I thought what better community to be in than a U2 community? U2 has consistently been a large part of my me, and has provided a large level of inspiration throughout all chapters of my life. I'm relatively young, and U2 has played a part in my life since I was born. They provide a certain level of release for me, and all in all, I've confided in their music for a lot of things. U2 was a band that created a special bond between my father and I while I was growing up. Though we were 30 years in age difference, the minute we'd pop in Achtung Baby or War or Rattle and Hum, along with any other album of theirs, we'd instantly be brought to the same level, and were one. We shared a lot of great times, just U2, my father, and I. Unfortunately he died very ubrubtly and tragically just a couple weeks ago. It's really quite difficult, and there remains a big level of shock still, but it's unbelievable how much U2's music has helped me cope. It's like their music is a close comforting friend that has continuously stuck by my side through good times and bad.

It's nice to meet you.

nice to meet you too :) [that is so tacky here, lol]

i'm sorry to hear of your father's passing away... but i am also glad to hear that such a great band has been able to provide some comfort for you. it is like a friend... i know i'd feel lonely if someone deprived me of it, anyway.

oh no... i didn't mean that 'nice to meet you' was tacky, i meant that me saying 'nice to meet you too' was tacky for this particular community because it's a U2 fan community... get it?

or maybe i really just do have too much U2 on the brain ;)

sorry! and you're welcome for the welcome.

I think most of us can identify with that thing you described- the what U2 brings to our lives part, especially in harder times. I'm sure if you go back through the posts, you'll be able to weed out similar stories, if you're interested.

And you expressed something that I've been trying to say for a long time- the phrase I've confided in their music for a lot of things... thats it. Thats what I've been trying to say, and explain to others. You do sort of "confide" in the music. The music is the only thing that really knows whats going on in your heart and mind, the only one you've shared it ALL with.

I'm rambling again....

What a great post! I'm so sorry about your dad. :( My dad died 26 years ago and I still sometimes have a hard time coping with it. U2 has helped me alot in that area as well. Their music is very inspirational! :)

Welcome to the community!!

Wow... I'm really sorry about your sudden loss. U2 really helped me get through the loss of my mom a year or so ago. IMO, no other band makes as much sense lyrically.

Anyway, I am happy you joined the community, welcome aboard!
