"Song Count" @ 02:05 pm

hapavox:
I'm going to predict and say that the NEW ALBUM will have *11-12* songs. I'm glad that Lillywhite has come aboard to sail that sinking ship! Chris Thomas' time was up. He probably tried the Phil "Don't-Shoot-Me!" Spector approach and failed miserably!!!!

You know what would be really great? If the grumpy-drummer-boy wrote a song on the new album!!! That would be great.

I just wish it would hurry and come out. Some of us were orginally expecting a single in January, a album in March/April and now we're delayed til god knows when. Sigh.

People were saying in the past that they should take some time to record the album rather than hurry and finish up something that wasn't meant to be like the Pop album. However, how about if the album is crap even after the long delay? Now, that would be another story in and of itself.

I admit that I don't listen to POP that much, but I feel it has a few redeeming qualities, like Last Night On Earth, Gone, and Discotheque. I prefer live versions of the first two. I personally believe that their albums began to lose their edge (no pun intended) after WAR, although each one subsequently draws me one for other reasons, or certain songs still remind of their youthful exuberance. They've matured like most artists do, and its their less mature side that I love the most. Here's to hoping they aren't too 'mature' on the new album!

I don't doubt you one bit at all Mr. Curtis. You have excellent taste in music and know it well!

I too, am hoping for a return to what made them good. Every album of theirs has hints of what they've always done best whether it be "Gone", "Last Night On Earth", or even "Grace". It would be nice if they sort of 'disappeared' under the radar and just avoided the media attention. Wouldn't that be nice? Even if the album does 'bomb' commerically speaking...it's still a U2 album and is part of their great catalog. In a way there's no more moving forward for this band because they've tried everything there is in the books! They should look backward and dig up their great past that brought them to this stage.

Thanks for the compliments. Mr. Curtis? Please, call me Stoney!

U2 with no media blitz? Not a chance. If the album is great, there'll be one. If it sucks donkey balls, there'll be one over how awful the album is, and then it'll blow over. They'll be labeled has-beens. Casual fans won't go see them in concert. They'll have to play smaller venues. But they're U2 man! It won't suck, and I'll go see them live as usual. I just hope their prices don't get too out of hand.

Is Satomi any relation to Hideki?

You're right. They'll still get attention if the album sucks. Though I can see the prices go up, up, and away even if the new album isn't received well. 'Casual Fans' be gone!!!!!

Satomi related to Hideki? Hahaha. Good question. I was just coming with some Japanese names that would be fitting. Sort of was thinking 'Ichiro Nomo' but that's too obvious.

If this album bombs, the band will retire.

But, I don't think this album will do anything but rock :)

I just want the band to release the album as soon as they think it's ready bc I have like all of their albums.

I wholeheartedly agree with you.

The turkey is still in the oven cooking to perfection. How it tastes by the time it reaches our plates is another story.

That is soo true!! Most people are worried about all of the technical stuff involved with the album but I am just concerned with when the album is going to come out bc though some albums have taken time to get used too I always end up liking them even POP!!!!

Personally, I'm a fan of Pop. It's probably consistently in my top 3 favorites.
