The birth of an icon: I came up with the idea, sorrow_drowning gave me the base in u2_icons, and signifiers made it for me with her fab Photoshop skills. Your icon is pretty fun, too! :D ::adds to the Bush-powing::

Feel free to pow all you want! : )

See, I have a thing about rainbow chip cookies, and I of course love Bono, and, my boyfriend and I decided that Sweetest Thing is our song (since he's a blue eyed boy and I'm a brown eyed girl). So, I adore your icon : )

Oh, you know what's fun? I will tell you what is fun. Yes. I will.

I have socks that say "Shamrock and roll."

That, my friends, is fun.

"Jiggery-pokery, paddywhackery, shamrockery and other assorted leprachaunalia" is what one friend and I recite in unison every time we pass "those" shops in Dublin. Hence our definition of shamrockery is horrifically commercial they're-always-after-me-lucky-charms type Irish souvenirs.

...leprachaunalia might just be the best word I've ever heard. And they have "Those" shops in Belfast too. Although, not as many as in Dublin, god no.

They were doing a roaring trade yesterday, so many tourists and, I am sad to say, Irish people in search of giant inflatable hammers and leprachaun hats. Speaking of which, surrounded by young Americans on the bus up the quays I was amused muchly by them musing that Irish people probably *don't* celebrate their patron saint by going out and getting hammered... Huh? Not if the amounts of people coming up to befriend us in the streets is anything to go by....

Wow....That is funny. I was just in Dublin on Friday and Saturday, and I saw a ton of those shops. Not a fan.

could be a couple of things, really...

Shamrock - Sign of irishness. Whee! So shamrockery could be stuff to do with Irishness.

ooor

Sham - Fake, and Rockery - An arrangement of plants and small-to-medium sized rocks, that is often found in a garden. So, Shamrockery - Fake Garden. Maybe.

oooor

It could be a play on the Shamrock and Rock music, so Shamrockery might just be rocking out to cracker Irish music. :D

it sounds like it would mean something like tomfoolery but for the irish, in my opinion. that's just what it brings to mind.

oh manybe I was thinking that because it reminds me of 'mockery', which I think would be a good definiteion for it too.
