Hello Hello!!

Going for the Paul Daniels look?! @ 06:33 am

arcmorality:
I'm currently feelin: amused amused
I'm currently hearin: Greet Death - Explosions in the Sky

LOL! What does Bono look like in that "coat". Larry soo doesn't want to be there! Nice to see things never change.

And whats with the multi-coloured background?!?! Discotheque video the remake?!

I feel no excitement at all about the impending album like I did for Pop & ATYCLB. Anyone the same? I hope it does grab me by the balls and gives me a good shakin! Lets hope Edge has been thrashing that guitar hard over the winter. For once I don't think the world is in need of a U2 album. Soo much good stuff has happened in music since 2000, I'd love to think U2 will put out an album that proves the world does need a new U2 album.

*gasp* what is wrong with you?

actually, I've found myself feeling the same way. maybe I'm just afraid I'll hate it so I'm keeping myself low key. I couldn't stand Pop when it first came out. it grew on me though.

I lurv Edge's shirt. it is similar to the one I'm wearing now:)...

Adam needs to dye his hair, and I hate those white glasses.

Personally, I can't wait for the new album. I've totally given up on the modern music scene (I don't recall anything worthy of note coming out last year, to be honest), and so U2's album will be a real breath of fresh air to me.

I personally thought Adam looked the coolest out of all of them.

Yeah? I reckon without the glasses, he looks dignified (though not like a rockstar), but with them ... I just don't like them. I tend to not like white glasses.

Really? I almost didn't recognize him ... I know he's ?44,? (I forget his birthday) but he looks even older. Not that he looks bad, just older.

I agree, I think the world needs a new U2 album more than ever. I can't stand most of the crap that's out there! :p

The world is in more desperate need of a new U2 album than ever. Nothing really good has happened since 2000...we've gotten more boring (Coldplay), more noise (the White Stripes), and more recycled, generic rock (Nickelback, Evanescence). I didn't think music could get worse than it did during the late 90's, but I'm being proven wrong.

I need a good, new U2 album...badly.

You really need to try getting out of the mainstream top 40 for the decent music of the last 4 years!!! There's plenty of it out there. No need to be bored by the likes of Coldplay etc.

I haven't really heard anything in the last couple of years that's really gotten me excited. I could name all the "new" bands on one hand...the Polyphonic Spree, Mars Volta and Norah Jones are the only "new" artists I can think of.

There's been really awesome albums by the Wondermints, Peter Gabriel, Spock's Beard, Marillion and a bunch of other bands to keep me going, but all of them have been around for a long time so I kind of put them in a seperate category.

I'm just getting a lot of lo-fi "indie rock" stuff like Death Cab, and it does absolutely nothing for me.

What I'd call "post-rock" yeah there's loads of great post-rock acts around right now. Explosions In the Sky, Broken Social Scene, Raising The Fawn, Valley of the Giants, GY!BE, Sigur Ros etc etc

Plus in the "mainstream" acts like doves/the stills/snow patrol/elbow among many others have been putting out amazing music. Of course this is just my opinion.

Yes PG's Up was fantastic, plus the new album from the likes of Kraftwerk, The Waterboys. There's plenty of great music to be had. Music has never had it so good.

definitely agree with you about there being so much good music out there. you just gotta look further than the radio or mtv.

I never quite understood what "post-rock" was, but everything I've ever heard that's been described as that has really done nothing for me. I mean, it's not bad music I guess, i just can't get into it. I like the Doves, but I don't get the rush from them that I got from the pre-Radiohead british bands...Mansun, the Verve, the Manic Street Preachers, etc.

Considering I haven't listened to the radio in at least six years (no, I'm not kidding), everywhere I've looked is "beyond MTV and radio." I just haven't been impressed by much of what I've found outside the underground progressive rock scene (Spock's Beard, Marillion, Dream Theater, etc). I just want a real rock band like U2, Oasis, or Cheap Trick to come out and completely blow me away. I'm not saying they have to sound exactly like those bands but I miss the great songwriting and vocal harmonies and (gasp) guitar solos and all that...I'm not sure I'm ready for a return to 80's hair metal, but there is something about really melodic songwriting with great choruses and songs that people can sing along to...played at a loud volume. Man, I miss that feeling. :)

(having said that, the album I've been listening to the most lately is Nickel Creek's "This Side"...so I'm into a lot of different music, but deep down in my soul...I miss the rock, man)

Go there and save the image to your hard drive and then upload it as a LJ icon. I don't know who made it but someone found it and it became a smiley on the message board I'm on...I stole it and made it a LJ icon. I mean, my journal really needed more cowbell.

I don't think Coldplay is boring at all... in fact, they're right up there with U2 as my favorite band.

I've just recently begun to get excited about the album, with all of the *confirmed* release dates and photo shoots and whatnot. All of the false/misleading rumors were leading me to just give up and wait for the album to fall into my lap.

I think most of the mainstream stuff has been crap lately; there is some good stuff that filters through sometimes. But I've been listening to alot of older music lately, so I'm quite content for the timebeing.

...I love Bono's coat and the shnazzy colors. :)

I'm just excited to see a new Bono look for a new U2 era!  Maybe he will wear that on stage instead of the black jacket this time around!

And whats with the multi-coloured background?!?!

It sort of reminds me of the Pop CD... Honest to God, I was nearly blinded when I opened up that CD case for the first time! So many colours!

Lets hope Edge has been thrashing that guitar hard over the winter.

Let's hope indeed. Edge's last best "guitar album", in my opinion, was Achtung Baby. We're in dire need of another!

As for the new music since 2000, I disagree somewhat. The only good thing I've heard is Radiohead's Hail to the Theif, and that's about it...

Holy chit! Adam! Who the hell is that guy? What did they do with Adam? He doesn't look like the bass player for U2! He looks like the friendly neighborhood dentist. He looks to nice and rich. And fatherly.

Oh sweet sugar daddy from hell.....

AAAIIIIYYYEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

How everything would be fixed, image-wise: Chop off at least half of Bono's hair and divide it between Adam and Larry. Especially Larry.

Edge, on the other hand, can stay exactly the same, with or without the beanie. He's just being his usual sweet dorky sex god self. ;D
