Hi, I just joined this community and wanted to say hello, just in case I ever comment and people say "who is that?"

I've been a U2 fan since 1996, after intensely hating them for several years. Yes, I did not like U2, but then I bought Achtung Baby and converted.
My favorite U2 songs are One and With or Without You.

One more note before I go. It was once my goal in life to see U2 perform live... i reached that goal May 3, 2001 in Cleveland, OH. Yay!

Hiya. I should have seen them in Cleveland. I'm from Cincinnati, and I thought 2 shows (Lexington and Columbus) would be enough. But I was hooked and wanted more, so when the 2nd leg came around I went to Notre Dame, Baltimore, and Atlanta. wish I had gone to more shows on the first leg! But seeing U2 at all makes me happy :D

Well see, I grew up listening to the lame soft-rock music my mom always listened to. I never knew other music existed, really, till high school (`94-95) and I got really quickly into Nirvana and other "grunge" bands. The only U2 song out at the time was Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me... I wasn't really fond of it.

Ha!! Your lucky, I grew up with a mum who made me listen to Kenny Rodgers!!!!!
And had the cheek to call U2 depressing!!!

Had a friend who used to hate U2 for no reason. Was a big Metallica fan. Guess he listened to U2, and one day out of no where he says to me, "You know, U2 is pretty good. I like their songs."

I used to hate them, too..back in 1987 when they were all over the radio and I was all of 9 years old. Three years later I watched Rattle and Hum and have not been the same.

Howdy. :)  Funnily enough I used to dislike them too... the HMTMKMKM video freaked me out when it first came out, and I thought Discotheque was utter crap which had no right to be sitting atop the singles chart. Now I look back and wonder how on earth I could have thought badly of them in any way?!  (I now adore both Discotheque and the Hold Me, Thrill Me video.)

Hey there. I'm Lizzie, I'm glad that you decided to join the LJ community. I have seen U2 perform live twice already. Both times in Chicago and both times during the elevation tour.
