Scissor Sisters To Support U2?

Word has surfaced that Scissor Sisters have been lined for the support slot for the next U2 tour after U2's Bono was spotted at one of their gigs.

Scissor Sisters played at the PS1 Contemporary Art Center in New York on Saturday. Bono was in the crowd checking out the show.

"He was there checking them out for a possible support slot on the next U2 tour" an industry insider tells Undercover News.

Scissor Sisters have been getting a various celebs at their shows on the current US tour. Robbie Williams was in the crowd at the Los Angeles gig last week.

They've also recently been in the studio working on new material with Kylie Minogue.

What do you guys think about it? I've only heard one song by them, so I can't state whether I like them or not just yet... One thing: their video for Take Your Mama is really bizarre, and it's nothing like something U2 would do.

Who?

Too bad they won't get PJ Harvey again. She was awesome...and she has a new album out too.

my boyfriend thinks the world of scissor sisters. i have heard their version of take your mamma (an elton john song) and didnt like it too much. but the video did make sense, seeing as how its an elton cover. it, to me, was very eltony.

That's quite a leap to make... Bono was spotted at their show, he must be scouting for them to open.

I wouldn't mind seeing them live, it looks as though they put on a good show :)

Who?? I guess they have a following, and it would certainly be in keeping with U2's penchant for female or female-led opening acts. Personally, for my high-priced ticket, I would expect a reasonably well-known and enjoyable opener.

my thoughts exactly. i've never heard of these people before. i'm all for supporting the unknowns, but eh. with the price of U2 tickets, i don't know. i guess i trust bono's judgement. :p

Eek, I hadn't thought about that...! very true :( But oh well, I guess I'll be paying whatever price it is just to see them live :D

I've never heard of them, though I think they are mentioned in an issue of Time magazine lately that I never really got around to reading. I'm really hoping someone like Powderfinger open for U2 down here in Australia.

I didn't realise they weren't known elsewhere in the world - they've been getting a lot of hype in the UK lately. I don't like Take Your Mama, that song really gets on my nerves. Laura is alright, not particularly amazing either. I must admit their cover of Comfortably Numb is quite good, though. (I haven't heard the original of that, so I've no idea how much they've changed it.)

The album grew on me the more I listened to it (still don't like Take Your Mama though!). They were excellent at Glastonbury and would be a good opening act - lots of energy and they are quirky without being strange, if that makes sense!

they changed "comfortably numb" a lot... in fact i didnt even know it was the same song until i tried to look up the lyrics and only found pink floyd.

i love the scissor sisters but i dont think they would be a good choice to open for u2. it doesnt seem to me that u2's audience would take to them.

I like the Scissor Sisters a lot but from what I can tell they don't seem like a U2 opener to me.

Since Jet have opened for everyone else, maybe they will open for U2 in Oz :)
