Hello Hello!!

Uno, dos, tres, catorce @ 01:22 pm

zuber:
I think 1, 2, 3 and 14 are numbers of U2 albums produced by Steve Lillywhite :-)

Yeah I've read this debate before today. But remember Steve Lillywhite has had a hand in other albums after War. He's helped out on most albums since... That seems to be the case with the upcoming album, he's one of a number of producers. Not the only producer like he was on the first 3 albums.

I guess we wont know for sure until the interviews start coming out... Until then we can debate it til we're blue in the arse!! :)

Hence why I said it doesn't appear that he has produced all of this album. There's half a dozen producers on the coming album.

Making the original theory unfounded.

Actually, I am now pretty certain he is counting 'eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen'. I have a Spanish speaker who is certain of this. The first number is definitely eleven, the last is definitely fourteen, and we are dead certain the middle two are twelve and thirteen, just slurred and poorly enunciated. And we all know what Bono's like with that enunciation ...

he says unos, dos, tres, catorce

eleven is once, twelve is dose, thirteen is threce. It's entirely possible it is 11,12,13. I speak spanish and I really don't think that's what he's saying though.

also, if that's what it is....this wouldn't solve the mystery, merely have has going.."why is he saying 11,12,13,14?" hahaha.

Actually, "eleven" is "once," "twelve" is "doce," and "thirteen" is "trece."

you are correct!

it is 1 2 3 14. I was just wondering why. Perhaps catorce just sounds cool. who knows?

I'm pretty sure it's 11-14, but if it's not, Bono's just emphasising vertigo. People are reading far too much into this.

He doesn't say unos. I've been playing this very loud, and I am absolutely 100% sure it is 'uns', which is a lot closer to 'once' than 'uno'. Then the next two numbers are said that fast that he could just slur or fail to enunciate. You count it fast and tell me - considering Bono's poor enunciation ("your eyes make a circoh" - slow part of I Will Follow!), it would not surprise me at all if he is trying to say 'twelve, thirteen'. Whatever the case, I say it is, without a doubt, 'eleven, slurred number, slurred number, fourteen'.

I thought it might be "uns, dois, três, quatorze", which is what BabelFish informs me is Portuguese for "one, two, three, fourteen". I dunno how exactly you pronounce those words, though, so I can't be sure. :)

Hm, now that's interesting. I'm not 100% on the pronunciation, but from what I know, it seems plausible ...

How about we wait for the album booklet with the lyrics? Actually, considering the unreliability of those in the past, maybe that's not such a good idea!

Hehe, yeah... the same can be said of the lyrics on U2.com, they're frequently wrong and I'm sure they're just lifted from other fan sites!

I don't even think they're from fansites, because even those places tend to be more precise! Half the time, I wonder if the people compiling the 'official' lyrics have problems hearing ... I don't see why Bono doesn't just write them down himself. It can't be that hard!
