Keane covering WOWY @ 09:38 pm

canadanne:
I'm currently feelin: enthralled

I love it when fandoms combine... here is an MP3 of the ever-wonderful Keane performing a cover of With Or Without You on Dermot O'Leary's radio show last month. Of course it's not as epic as the original, but it's interesting to hear the song done without guitars, and it's still beautiful. It's *Keane*, how could it NOT be beautiful!

There seems to be rather a lot of crossover when it comes to liking these two bands. If only they would tour together!  Keane are huge U2 fans, but I've never heard U2 say a word about them (they seem to have namechecked every new band *but* them).... *sigh*

Agreed
I do like the Keane version and of course I love U2. It would be awsome if Keane was U2's opening act on the US tour. Keane are good (Im gonna see them in Boston in Feb)

It would be amazing if Keane were the support on the upcoming tour. Don't think it's going to happen (like you said, U2 have namechecked everyone but them!) but I can hope :)

very interesting. thanks for posting that. it's one of the better covers I've heard...not painful like some.
it's probably their hardest song to do.
he does have a fabulous voice, and this song proves it. so clear and strong.

Yeah, Tom Chaplin has one of the loveliest voices I've ever heard. I understand he was suffering from a throat infection when they did this cover, too... it certainly doesn't show!

yay, it works now! :) it's a good cover! i've never heard any other covers of "With or Without You" though i probably won't like them (i think it's a hard song for anyone to cover and to not butcher it and bono has such a distinct voice, not to mention it's one of my fave songs of all time)

i actually haven't heard much about keane...

thanks for posting this!

Wheee! :)  I'm so glad you liked it. They're a great band, I can't choose between U2 and Keane for my album of 2004.

It's not like I'm not going to try to get tickets but I would be trying even harder if Keane were to be the opening band.

bono did just mention them on the CD:UK interview when he was talking about bands that made him nervous. :-)

Sure you're not mistaken?  I watched that CD:UK interview a couple of times and I'm sure I would have noticed if he mentioned Keane (considering I was especially listening out for it!). I remember him mentioning Coldplay and I think Franz Ferdinand... but no Keane...

no, i'm positive. it's been awhile since i watched it, but i recall he didn't pronounce their name quite as openly as he did the others, it was more a passing thought. i can check again tonight to make sure, though...

I'll have to watch it again myself, as I'm positive he *didn't* mention them!

(I hope you're right, though.)
