Hello Hello!!

I haven't posted here in a WHILE, but I'm glad this community is still alive & kicking.
As one could probably deduce, I absolutely adore U2. Like..more than I ever thought I could love any band. It's almost silly how much I love them. Sometimes I am listening to a song and I just burst into tears because I can't believe they exist. Is that scary?

Oh well. Anyway, I'm posting because I'm going to Dublin. I leave in 2 weeks. I'm just going to explore, have fun, etc..to see if I want to study abroad there next year. So of course, I want to do everything U2-related possible! I guess I just want to know if anyone here has any suggestions of places I should visit?

Some Irish people I've been talking to have told me that they've actually seen Bono about town, like in pubs & such! And that people mostly leave him alone.
And that's nice for him, but see, I don't know if I'd be able to do that. I'd feel totally compelled to, like, go up and kiss his shoes and tell him how much he's changed my life, or something. So what should I do if for some reason I do happen to see our god?!

Alright, well, I guess that's it.

I totally understand what you mean when you say you cry because they exist. They just....mean so much to so many people. It's really awesome that you're going to Dublin!

and hmmm, if you see our god (lol)....

well, I personally would tell him how much U2's music means to me.

have fun!

apparantly it's true alot around their home towns - people pass them in the street and just acknowledge them as neighbours. I remember reading an article about how Edge can walk around the neighbourhood where he lives without being disturbed by one person.

Advice for Dublin

I don't know if you have seen this already or not, but it is a map to everything U2 to see in Dublin. My husband and I went there for our
'U2 honeymoon' and we found the map quite helpful. We stayed at the Clarence too. If you aren't staying there, at least go in to The Octagon Bar which is totally open to the public. When we were there, Daniel Llanois was at the bar talking to a friend of his about the recording of the album (last year). Also, Brian is the concierge of the Clarence, and he was able to set us up with a driver who took us to Moydrum Castle in the middle of Ireland. (From the cover of The Unforgettable Fire album) Hope this info helps! Have fun! Wish I was going!

What to do if you meet Bono in a bar

Hi Glortw! Well I think I'd approach to him and said something like "Hei, buddy, fancy a beer?". Of course he could say not, but I don't think he's so stroppy and at least you could start a more or less rational conversation, tell him about what his music means to you and all that stuff. Then -after the beer or so, lol- you can ask him for an autograph or a picture or whatever :).
