Hello Hello!!

Something crazy. @ 08:06 pm

mrslat:
I'm currently feelin: weird weird
I'm currently hearin: U2 // Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own

I just realized that on every U2 album I own, my favorite track is always track 3. What's up with that?

The Joshua Tree? With Or Without You, #3.
Achtung Baby? One, #3.
All That You Can't Leave Behind? Walk On, #3
HTDAAB? Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, #3.

What's that all about?

And another creepy thing... the random shuffling of the 785 songs in my computer music library just played Walk On after Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, as I was writing this entry.

I haven't listened to All That You Can't Leave Behind in ages, but isn't "Walk On" the fourth track on that album? ^^;

elevation is #3

if you look at a lot of cds, the third track is usually a possible single or good sone or something. i heard that there was a formula for deciding how to lay out tracks, but i forgot.

Walk On is #4, but in the tracklising that Bono wanted originally
(Beautiful day
Elevation
Walk On
Stuck in a Moment
Peace on Earth
Kite
New York
In A Little While
Wild Honey
When I Look At the World
Grace)

it would be #3. I totally reccomend burning yourself a copy in this order, or rearranging a playlist, throwing on headphones, and listening to it this way front to back and pretending you've never heard the album before.

Pretty much my favorite song on any U2 album is track five. For example:

Boy - Out of Control
War - Drowning Man
The Unforgettable Fire - Promenade
Achtung Baby - Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Zooropa - Stay
Atomic Bomb - City of Blinding Lights

The left-out albums are just the ones where I like the song but it's not my favorite.

I've come to notice that a lot of times I don't care for the last track. This is with any album, not just U2. I don't really know most of their albums thoroughly, but I didn't like the last track on The Joshua Tree or Zooropa (I haven't listened to either album in a long time), and Grace took forever to grow on me. Right now I'm just not feeling Yahweh.

the last track is usually a spiritual track, like their way of connecting to god. i think that this is mentioned in into the heart.

I was so going to mention that, and never got around to it =P

But, you're right. Track three tends to be my favorite on the disc.

How can you not like "One?" Holy crap. It's the best song ever.

And silly me for thinking Walk On was #3... I was discussing this with someone else and he thought it was #3, so... not totally my fault.

I don't think there's any pattern like that for me, my favourites seem to be a total mixture of track numbers. Maybe that's some reflection on my eclectic musical taste?!
