Hello Hello!!

A couple of questions @ 09:49 pm

beatlette:
I'm currently feelin: tired tired

Hello! I've been inspired to ask a similar question to one earlier. Are there any worthy covers of U2? Like, is there a band that covered a U2 song pretty well without butchering it? I have yet to hear one. (Wait, that Keane one that was mentioned a couple weeks ago was pretty good). I'm really picky about who covers what song by my favorite bands. I can't help it. o_O

also...

I didn't know if this was okay to ask but does anyone have a bigger version of this picture?

 i love it!

I haven't heard the Keane song. What song did they do?

Haha, I saw Edge's (or whoever that is on the left, can't tell) chaps and thought for an instance he had on black pants and blue underwear over them. *rolls eyes at self*

I like the Counting Crows cover of I Will Follow and Ari Hest's Running to Stand Still, but I can't think of any others I really love.

I was at an O.A.R. concert over the summer, and Matt Nathansan (first performer of the night) came out and he and the lead singer for O.A.R. sang With or Without You. I went absolutely crazy, lost complete control of myself haha. They sounded wonderful - it was a beautiful cover of the song.

Do you live in Orlando? Did you catch that show at the House of Blues? If so, I was there too. They do a pretty good cover.. Matt Nathanson was good too.

I'm a huge Matt Nathanson fan (hence my LJ username) and Matt is a huge U2 fan. I've chatted with him a bunch after concerts and such, and he told me his favorite U2 album is Achtung Baby and his favorite song is "With or Without You" (but that he also likes "Promenade" and "Elvis Presley in America"). I know that O.A.R. and Matt have also done a cover of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" that's really awesome, and that Matt likes to perform "The Sweetest Thing" and "The First Time" in concert himself.

I like the cover of "Running to Stand Still" that Tori Amos sometimes does in concert. Spahn Ranch (an industrial-dance band) did a great cover of "I Will Follow" that seems to sample the guitar part, and the rest of the song is completely in a different style. It's hard to explain, but I love it.

There are two covers I really, really like. The first is Cassandra Wilson's cover of "Love is Blindness." The second is a cover of "Drowning Man" by Madelyn Iris. Both very different, very cool arrangements.
