I'm currently feelin: thoughtful thoughtful
I'm currently hearin: "Run"-Snow Patrol

Well, we've seen the rumored tour dates, but have there been any rumors as to who the opening acts will be? I've heard Snow Patrol, but I think Modest Mouse and The Killers would make great openers as well.

am i the only person who thinks Modest Mouse sucks? (not trying to offend anyone, but they're the new radiohead, as in the band everyone and their mothers likes and it's a freaking sin not to like them...*shrug*)

I haven't heard Snow Patrol yet...

I don't think they suck, I'm just not a fan of their sound. I gotta agree with you tho, after all the hype I was hearing from people who'd been fans of theirs for awhile, when I finally did hear them I was like.... and?

Snow Patrol sounds like the same Late Period Radiohead(tm), Coldplay, Keane, high-pitched-tenor-whiny stuff that's been getting forced out lately, I'm not impressed. Ick.

Much more interested in The Killers, The Music, active sounding bands.

Hmmm...

Are there any bands out now that don't either sound like Coldplay or indie/garage rock? I'm getting really bored with all of it, I've kinda given up and just gone back to listening to a lot of older bands I'd missed the first time.

Yep, you just have to look outside the top 40. The best music now doesn't get into the charts, with only a few exceptions.

Oh, I know. Most of the music I listen to is well outside the top 40. Unfortunately it's also nearly impossible to find any of it in the states...oh well.

Yeah, I can sympathize. Most of what I listen to nowadays is from Japan, and the last time I checked, you can't walk into your local Wal-Mart and pick up a copy of L'Arc~en~Ciel's Smile or Dir en grey's Vulgar.

I'm streaming some stuff from their site. It's pretty cool. :)

I'm always pimping Marillion (www.marillion.com) and Over The Rhine (www.overtherhine.com). ;)

I felt the same way. I'm not crazy about their vocalist, and while their songs sound interesting at first, the more I listen to them, the more I think "Wow, that's not as good as I thought it was."

I've always thought that if the Modest Mouse singer actually just sang, they'd be great. I love their guitarlines and all, it's just the way he sings sounds so.... I don't know... forced?

I can't stand Snow Patrol either, the singer has one of the most annoying accents I've ever heard in music!

And he sings through his nose. And they're absolutely terrible live.

I have dozens of awful U2 live performances on CD. Doesn't make them a terrible live band.
I would agree SP are not the best live band around, but I've seen much much worse live.

For the record, the band I would like to see support U2 is doves, who are one of the best live bands around right now, even better than U2 from what I've seen.

if its an old english band hefner and they tour around in a painted bread truck... then a dream i had a few weeks ago would be coming true.

Yeah, I like the scissor sisters as an opening act!

And I don't like The Killers, Snow Patrol and Modest Mouse at all for opening acts... they suck...

Why don't they let Coyote Shivers play?
They're a forgotten punk/rock band from the early 90's, and my god, they rock! That's the energy we need before U2 starts playing! Not those wining bitches.

If you want to hear a song from them, download Sugar High from them, it really rocks your brain out. Even the version where Renee Zellweger sings a few lines!

Scissor Sisters would be rather good. I don't particularly like the Killers, except that they're good to dance to in clubs. I've heard they're really good live though, so I wouldn't mind if it was them.
