I'm currently feelin: amused amused
I'm currently hearin: U2 - I Threw A Brick Through A Window (live)

I have three questions.

1. Is there any reason for why U2 has never played "Acrobat" live? I think it'd be beautiful... is it just too heavy? Or something with playing it live that is impossible/hard to do?

2. During the Popmart shows, before they played "Last Night on Earth", there's a strange voice talking about going to the shop. I don't have the Popmart video, can anyone tell me what is going on?

3. Who else really wants to see them perform "I Threw a Brick Through a Window" or "A Day Without Me" this tour?

I could have sworn I had an MP3 of them playing Acrobat at a soundcheck or something, but I can't find it now (maybe it's on another computer). I have no idea why they didn't include it in the final set.

I would be ecstatic if they played A Day Without Me, it's my favourite Boy track!

They played Acrobat on the Hershey Tapes Soundcheck from Zoo days. I can post it up if you want it

They did rehearse Acrobat, though not in full. There's no real reason why it didn't make the cut - it's just they couldn't play everything and that's the song that happened to fall by the wayside.

Other curiously unplayed songs: Drowning Man, Promenade, Heartland, The Playboy Mansion, When I Look At The World.

i find it ridiculously difficult to choose favorite songs when it comes to U2, but two of my MOST loved are "Drowning Man" and "Heartland"- oh how I'd love to hear those live.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean ... I think, given a different era, Drowning Man might have been played - it just didn't suit the War Tour set. Heartland, however ... I am baffled as to why that was never played.

Not really, it was only a snippet at the end of Bad. If we're going to count that, then Stranger In A Strange Land was played too (28 October 1984, Brussels - Bono quotes it at some point, I think during Surrender).

When a song is loved so well, even a snippet is cherished. Besides, it's more than we got for Acrobat (in front of an audience, at least)

True, at least it was ever-so-slightly featured in front of an audience. Incidentally, speaking of never-played songs, Heartland was snippeted during the intro to Streets at one Lovetown Melbourne show in October 1989 (14th? Someone who has actually HEARD this can tell me which show it was, as I only have the 8th and 9th).

The only one of those questions I could've answered was the first one, and I think it would be redundant now. :)

(Isn't Acrobat beautiful, though? One of my favourites, to be sure.)

I love it. I've always thought it was a lyrical masterpiece. I listen to it in absolute awe.
