x-posted everywhere @ 11:53 pm

themegs:
Someone on e-bay is selling an early U2 poster that is so old, it's signed by Adam Clayton, David Evans, Paul Vox, and LarryLove Mullen. LarryLove. He used the y to be the side of a capital L and write "love" connected to his name. They are so cute I can't even stand it. Apparently, the gig that the poster advertises was at a venue that no longer exists.

The poster is going for $10,000 right now. I think Larry should buy it. There just can't be U2 memorabilia out there that Larry doesn't have displayed in his spare house. *g*

teh coolness

Make sure you look at the autographs! They are too cute.

Someone ought to tell Mr. LarryLove himself about this - apparently he's the biggest collector of U2 Memorabilia out there!

Well that's what he collects, hanging on to all their old things. At the exhibit at the R&RHoF there were all these old press releases and notes the band had all written to one another. It was awesome. :)

Yep, Larry bought the house next door to his due to privacy reasons, and he stores all the memorabilia in it! I say we form a team and bust into the place!

That autograph is very cute!

I see that. :) The seller says he put the price so high because he wants it to go to a serious collector or even a museum.

interesting...should definitely come w/ a certificate of authenticity if it's selling for that price though.

CoAs are worth nothing though. It just means the people selling it have doe some research and figured its most likely authentic, which this dude has obviously done, cos he mentions his research in the description.

true...but saying 'Research leaves me to believe' doesn't really equal assurance that it's authentic, at least to me. I guess people would just have to take the chance and get it authenticated themselves.

Interesting point ... do you think it's real? I ask because I know I've seen "Bono Hewson" in articles a few times, but never "Paul Vox." (Which doesn't mean he never used it, of course.) Plus, the auction seems short on details like city and date of the concert, which makes it that much harder to authenticate. I dunno, maybe this is sour grapes.

oh I'm not saying I don't think it is, necessarily...it looks like it could be and that would be just awesome.

I'm just saying that for that price, just taking someone's word that it's authentic is a bit iffy.

Thanks! It's an illustration of Foxglove, from the comic "Death: The Time of Your Life" by Neil Gaiman. I cropped it and superimposed text from elsewhere on the page.

And I agree with you that it would be awesome if the poster is real, and it probably is, but I'd still be reluctant to spend $10K without more proof.

I don't collect memorabilia at all, and I would kill for that. If only I was rich.

I'm as serious a collector as I can afford to be... which really makes me not that serious at all. Bah. Student life.
