Hello Hello!!

January 24th, 2005

a good honest question... @ 05:40 pm

bad_lemon:
I'm currently feelin: numb numb
I'm currently hearin: bad - u2

as the band is not playing mn or anywhere near, save chicago, coming up i'm going to have bruises as i am kicking myself. i would like to ask the question that i hope is no for everyone.

as anyone here ever turned down a ticket to a u2 concert??

i have and i am kicking myself today still. October 29, 1997, the day that i will never be able to forget. i opted out of popmart because i was stupid and hung out with a bad crowd. (i skipped the concert for a weekly church thing)
not only would that have been my first u2 concert at the tender age of 10, it would have been my first concert ever. instead my first concert ended up being the rolling stones about a month later.

my head hurts

my very first concert was the popmart tour at the tender age of 11. It was fantastic. I'm not telling you this to make you jealous or sad- it's to get your hopes up. Most major bands come back to the US for a third leg- there's no way they can skip out on half the continent without pissing off a billion people. Trust me, there will be an MN show. I'm from MN, and I go to school in Milwaukee at MArquette, so I'm hoping to hit up Minneapolis (I'll be pissed if they play the target center...the sound sucks there), Milwaukee, AND Chicago. Fear not, fellow fan, for we shall have a concert to attend.

agreed about the target center... and the dome sucks for concrets too. it's terrible, i think. too big. but i've heard that the xcel center is pretty good for concerts...

oh my gosh the xcel is AMAZING. I saw the eagles, journey, styx, no doubt, and like 3 others there, and the sound is absolutely phenomenal. Compared to the Target center, it would be God.

Joshua Tree 1987, Massachusetts. I was 14. *I* didn't turn it down but my parents did on the grounds that I had to go on some stupid fucking school camping trip that same Friday night.
I still haven't quite forgiven them and I'm more than twice that age now....

I am totally embarrassed to admit that I looked at the ticket line at the Uni district in sea wa back during the JT tour and decided to go out and get drunk instead. =\ I was way to interested in partying to attend the JT tour and I will forever kick myself for that. During Achtung Baby I was either breastfeeding or pregnant... =\

(Hey, I'm in Wisconsin. Neighbors, woo!)

I was fifteen, and I couldn't go to PopMart in Madison. The parents weren't too keen on the idea, so I missed out. I'm still bummed about it, too. :/

THEY WILL HAVE A SHOW IN THE CITIES! They must! They will also have one in Milwaukee, because only Chicago dates makes me extremely sad.

An ex-boyfriend had a ticket for me for the Elevation show in Vancouver, BC. I broke up with him a few months before the concert ... I knew if I'd stayed with him, it would only be for the ticket, and I couldn't have done that.

At that point, I wasn't involved in any online U2 stuff, so didn't realize the GA tickets were the good ones. I was appalled at how much the reserved seats were, and I was adamant at not getting a GA ticket. Oh well. It was probably sold out anyway.

My friend was going to the Unforgettable Fire tour and wanted me to go since I was becoming a big fan, I believe I was 14 at the time. My parents said no, I was to young to go to a concert. When Joshua Tree tour came through Houston, my then boyfriend and I camped out over night for tickets to both shows. I have been lucky and have seen them every time they go on tour since JT. I never say no to U2 nor will I ever. :D

I was at that show you skipped out on (Oct 29th '97). In the seventh row.

I was older than 10 though...

It was one of the worst U2 shows I've been to because the sound quality in the dome blows.

But the 7th row made it worth it.

I had an opportunity to got to the Elevation Nov 7, 2001 (I think that's the right date) in Denver. I turned it down because I had company coming in from out of town and he had everything set: the flight, the hotel, the rental car. He was the one who offered to take me and he not only would've had to try to buy ticket but he may have had to pay more to rearrange everything.

However, considering that he and I ended up living together for a year and a half, with it ending rather badly, I wish I had said yes. I can't believe I turned down U2 out of consideration!
