Chicago fans!!!!!!!!! @ 08:46 pm

darkangel2780:
So, for the last tour I bought tickets online, early, first day of sale, and ended up with the cheapest seats, I was up in the boonies at the UC, yet still ended up being able to see. For this tour I'm trying for GA. Any speculation on how early to get there to get a relatively decent spot to stand? By decent I mean that I can see something other than the heads of the people in front of me. I am short. =) I'm trying to ballpark it because I already have the day requsted off, and I have someone coming from out of town to go with me.....and I need to estimate his travel time versus our arrival time. He suggested we just buy riot gear and casually wander in... ;-)

I have no idea. I had seats last year at the United Center, but am hoping to get general admission this year, too. I have no concept of what time I should get there, but I want IN THAT EGG. I'm thinking a week early should be enough...

9am.... 9am... That was my timewise answer so far.. so I'm going to shoot for that.. although every concert I've ever been to indoors has had assigned seating, so this should definitely be a new experience. Outdoor general admission gigs are fun, but you also dont have to worry about 2k crazed fans rushing the doors and there's a lawn area.. should be interesting

Since I have no experience in this area, I asked my U2 dedicated brother.

He said he gets to the UC by 9am.

Thanks! Hmm... so riot gear, canteen, lunch, dinner, steel will, and.....I should definitely check my kidneys at the door.

if you see this comment back, my screen name on yahoo is thisdesertlife24... tell him to IM me... I'm curious as to how this whole GA orgy (dare I call it that!?) is going to work, what with the lines and the standing and the insanity that will no doubt ensue once the doors DO open

I know he doesn't use Yahoo...

But he did add that if you want to be in the inner egg/bullseye thing... get there at 5am.

People sleep outside in tents, of course, but they clearly aren't Chicagoans b/c if they were they'd know that's not so smart in that area. :)

Agreed, I went to one of the Chicago shows for Elevation and got in line around 11 AM or so. With GA tix, I ended up about 7 or 8 rows deep just outside of the heart.

Also, while waiting in line throughout the day, the event staff handed out numbered cards to keep everyone in line outside. So it wasn't exactly pandemonium, things were fairly orderly.

Awesome! thats what I was hoping for. I'm a huge fan of pandemonium don't get me wrong. But I would prefer that it take place INSIDE the arena. And my kidneys are happier now, too =)
