Hello Hello!!

Such a beautiful song.... @ 06:08 pm

mmmmjournal:

And so she woke up
Woke up from where she was
Lying still
Said I gotta do something
About where we're going

Step on a steam train
Step out of the driving rain, maybe
Run from the darkness in the night
Singing ha, ah la la la de day
Ah la la la de day
Ah la la de day

Sweet the sin
Bitter the taste in my mouth
I see seven towers
But I only see one way out

You got to cry without weeping
Talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice

You know I took the poison
From the poison stream
Then I floated out of here
Singing...ha la la la de day
Ha la la la de day
Ha la la de day

She runs through the streets
With eyes painted red
Under the black belly of cloud in the rain
In through a doorway she brings me
White gold and pearls stolen from the sea
She is raging
She is raging
And the storm blows up in her eyes

She will...
Suffer the needle chill
She's running to stand...

Still.

Thank you for this.

The beauty of this song has rested my eyes from the barrage of negative posts from the past few days.

Yeah, I figured we all could use a break. It's good to reflect on what made them great in the first place.

... and your icon is resting my eyes. :)

Me too. I get chills from that whole album.

Sometimes it's the harmonica in that song, or the piano, or Bono's voice.

Or something from "Red Hill Mining Town."

Or something from "In God's Country."

Or something completely different. It's the soundtrack of my life.

"It's the soundtrack of my life."

I cannot agree more. That album is easily one of the best recorded ever. I can't even really put it into words, I can listen to it whenever, and it seems to answer all my problems, questions, and concerns.

I LOVE it when they play this song live. It gives me goose bumps just watching Bono sing this song. I wish they would play it more often, just such beautiful about something so ugly.

That's the song that made me realize U2 was my favorite band. I listened to it on repeat for four hours on a bus trip, and every single time the line You got to cry without weeping, Talk without speaking, Scream without raising your voice... came on, something happened, and I loved them more.

Those are some of my favorite lines from that song, too. Definitely a goosebumps moment. The lyrics are so strong, and Bono's delivery so spot-on, that you don't even have to think about what those few lines mean to feel the sheer weight of them, which I love, because I've always been more attracted to emotional overtones than I have precise lyrical meanings.

wow! I totally listened to that last night right before I went to bed and I was like damn I love this song. It's actually the reason I got started on U2. See, it's my dad's fave U2 song, and he went through a mood one day and listened to JT over and over again and I remember being like... this is the best effin song/album I've ever heard. and then I stole his tape. and now look at me!
